Philosopher Magdugal Described fear and hunger as the basis of life in 1890..

Friends, hunger does not look at religion, it looks at food for two times a day! Hunger is a natural process which stays with every living being from birth to death. Fearing death due to that hunger, living beings try to arrange food for two times a day according to their capacity. When everything on this earth was in natural environment, then living beings used to get food according to their desire from the elements of nature according to their hunger. 

 

  

 Then perhaps there was neither roti nor the word roti was coined. As the culture of life developed, living beings started eating food cooked with their hands on fire instead of raw fruits and vegetables. Then hunting and further in the development process, farming and growing grains in farming started. Then they learned or developed the art of making different types of dishes from that grain, which later became a tradition of animal culture, today it is also called home science and the same living beings have also started taking its formal education. In cooking, the living beings first learnt to cook the lump of wheat flour directly on fire, then invented soft pots/earthen utensils, then started flattening the same dough lump and baking it on the pan, which became round and soft as well as free from the grit of ash and soil! At the same time, someone must have named it "Roti". Even today, thick rotis are made in many villages of our Rajasthan, it is called Ram Rot! Near Kolayat (Kapil Muni Dham), at Sankhla Phanta, one gets rotis as big as two feet in diameter (in dhabas) in which two living beings can satisfy their hunger together in one roti! 

 

 Now this roti has become established as a permanent food material due to the basic need of living beings, its convenience of eating and agricultural capacity to satisfy hunger! Today, this roti is made from wheat grains and eaten in almost all the households of the world, some call it roti, some Kulcha, some Tontiyas and some call it bread! But in this process of getting bread or satisfying hunger, I don't see any name of any institution like religion. What I see is only the natural/artificial solution to satisfy hunger, which is two meals a day on this earth and from this earth. Today, many religions and religious sects have come up in the world. They also fulfill the subject matter like religion in their own way through various activities and events. But the religious leaders, who are creatures, also feel hungry and they too, like other creatures, get two meals a day in their own way. With the principle of Dharmam Sharanam Gachhami. 

 

 But the matter becomes worth thinking about when a common poor creature makes his own family to live according to the social system and feels incapable of establishing himself in this social system, then a very frightening situation is created in the mind of that creature. Then all he sees is to make every possible effort to fight his and his family's hunger! At that time, he neither sees religion nor any religious bond! At that time, his hunger itself becomes his worship and satisfying that hunger becomes the first religion of that being (which is also said in Bhagavad Gita that karma is dharma)! Then he neither sees society nor social culture! He sees only his and his family's hunger as a goal and in an attempt to satisfy it, that being does everything that the social system does not accept and hunger does not allow that being to accept that social system at the ideological level! The social system has no meaning in front of that being, in front of the fear created by his hunger! I recently saw a live example of this in a religious fair in my city Bikaner and there is no doubt that this must be happening in other cities as well! Because hunger is felt by all the city beings in this world! Bikaner fair, the place of Shri Hanuman ji, in the middle of the Poonrasar Dham padyatra in the village of Naurangdesar, time was around 8 to 9 in the night. The tent of Nav Yuvak Mandal Seva Samiti where tea, milk, bread, salted rice with puri sabzi was served to the pilgrims in the middle of the jungle to satiate the hunger of the pilgrims in the form of animals. But in the middle of this I also saw some other creatures who were just animals with their entire family but according to the social system, they belonged to some other sect or in simple words, from another religion. Where Lord Shri Hanuman ji is not accepted. But I did not see their religion coming in the way of the hunger and family situation of those creatures and the people of the entire family enjoying the fair like atmosphere. In those moments, those creatures set aside their religious bondage and gave place to their hunger and the effort to satiate it, which was natural according to the animal nature. And chose roti for their hunger, ignoring religion. Because in animal culture, roti (bread) is made to satisfy the hunger of all living beings! Religion is not above hunger and bread or religion does not stand anywhere in front of hunger! 

 

 ( We have a animal poet friend in Bikaner whose name is Asad Ali Asad, for him there is a catchphrase among the living beings of the literary family that in Majhak Majhak, where there is ration, there is Asad! Now Asad is not the only living being there, all those living beings are also there who utter this catchphrase in Majhak for Asad!

 

 So Bikaner's senior lyricist/poet late Shri Harish Bhadani had even written that roti naam sat hai, sat se mugt hai! He called roti the biggest truth of life in his poetic song! ) 

 

 This was said in a better way from a psychological point of view by psychologist Magdugal much earlier around 1890! He said that there are only two reasons in life to stay alive, first is hunger and second is fear! Hunger creates fear and fear creates hunger to stay active! I had read this lesson of philosophy during my Master of Fine Art Painting studies! 

 

 I saw it come true during my trek to Shri Poonrasar Dham at the mid-Naurangdesar trek stop! In those moments, I also took photographs of those creatures, while satiating their hunger, while indulging in the purpose of fulfilling the will to live of all living beings, with my camera (in this photograph, a family of creatures is taking a meal of bread and puri sabzi along with hot tea) which is presented here for your perusal!

मित्रों भूख धर्म को नहीं देखती ,दो वक्त की रोटी की ओर देखती है ! भूख प्रकृति जन्य क्रिया है जो समस्त प्राणी मात्र में जन्म से मृत्यु तक प्रतिपल प्राणी के साथ रहती है ! उस भूख के कारण से मरने के भय से भयभीत होकर प्राणी अपनी क्षमता के अनुरूप प्रयास करता है दो वक्त की रोटी की व्यवस्था में ! जब इस धरती पर सब कुछ प्राकृतिक वातावरण था तब प्राणी अपनी भूख प्रकृति के तत्वों से स्वतः ही अपनी इच्छा अनुरूप भोजन प्राप्त कर लेता था ! तब शायद न तो रोटी थी और न ही रोटी नाम का शब्द रचा गया था ! जैसे जैसे जीवन संस्कृति का विकास हुआ प्राणी ने कच्चे फल तरकारी की जगह आग से भोजन अपने हाथ से पकाकर खाना शुरू किया ! फिर शिकार और उस से आगे विकास क्रम में खेती और खेती में अनाज उगाना शुरू किया ! फिर उस अनाज से विभिन्न प्रकार के पकवान बना ने की पाक कला सीखी या विकसित की जो बाद में प्राणी संस्कृति की परम्परा बन गयी उसे आज होमसाइंस भी कहने लगे है वही प्राणी और इसकी विधिवत शिक्षा भी लेने लगे है ! पकाने में प्राणी ने पहले गेहूं के आटे के पिंड को सीधे आग में पकाना सीखा फिर मृदु भाण्ड / मिटटी के बर्तनो का अविष्कार किया तो उसी आटे के पिंड को चपटा करके तवे पर सेकना आरम्भ किया जो गोल और नरम साथ में राख और मिटटी की किरकिर से मुक्त हो गयी ! उसी समय किसी ने उसका नामकरण भी कर दिया होगा "रोटी "हमारे राजस्थान के कई गांवों में आज भी मोटी रोटी बनती है उसे राम रोट कहते है ! कोलायत ( कपिल मुनि धाम ) के पास सांखला फांटा पर दो फिट के व्यास जितनी बड़ी रोटी मिलती है( ढाबों में ) जिसमे एक साथ दो प्राणी एक रोटी में ही अपनी भूख शांत भर सकते है ! अब ये रोटी प्राणी की मुलभुत आवश्यकता अपनी खाने की सुविधा और कृषि की क्षमता से स्थायी भोजन सामग्री के रूप में स्थापित हो गयी भूख को शांत करने के लिए ! आज लगभग पुरे विश्व भर के घरों में ये रोटी गेहूं के अनाज से निर्मित करके खायी जाती है कोई इसे रोटी कहता है कोई कुलचे , कोई टोंटियास तो कोई इसे ब्रेड कहकर खता है ! पर इस बिच कहीं भी रोटी या भूख शांत करने की प्रक्रिया के मध्य धर्म जैसे किसी संस्थापन का कही कोई नाम मुझे नजर नहीं आता है ! केवल नजर आता है तो बस भूख को शांत करने का प्राकृतिक/ कृतिम समाधान जो है दो वक्त की रोटी इस धरा पर इस धरा से ! आज संसार में अनेको धर्म और धर्म पंथ भी आ चुके है ! जो अपने अपने तरीके से धर्म जैसी विषय वस्तु को विभिन्न क्रियाओं और आयोजनों से पूर्ण भी करते है ! पर धर्म संचालकों को भी जो की प्राणी है उन्हें भी भुख लगती है और वे भी अन्य प्राणियों की भांति दो वक्त की रोटी अपने तरीके से हासिल करते है ! धर्मम शरणम् गच्छामि के सिद्धांत के साथ ! पर बात तब विचारणीय होती है जब एक सामन्य सा गरीब प्राणी अपना परिवार बना लेता है सामाजिक व्यवस्था के अनुरूप जीने को और इस सामाजिक व्यवस्था में वो असक्षम महसूस करता है खुद को स्थापित करने में , तब एक बहुत ही भयभीत करने वाली स्थिति उस प्राणी के मन मस्तिष्क में बनती है ! फिर उसे जो दीखता है तो वो सिर्फ अपने और अपने परिवार की भूख से लड़ने का हर संभव प्रयास करना ! उस समय वो न धर्म देखता है न कोई धार्मिक बंधन ! उस समय उसकी भूख ही उसका आराध्य और उस भूख को शांत करना उस प्राणी का प्रथम धर्म बन जाता है ( जिसे भगवद गीता में भी कहा गया है कर्म ही धर्म है ) ! फिर वो न समाज को देखता है न ही सामाजिक संस्कृति को ! उसे बस एक लक्ष्य की भांति अपनी और अपने परिवार की भूख ही नजर आती है और वो प्राणी उसे शांत करने के प्रयास में वो सब कर गुजरता है जिसे सामाजिक व्यवस्था स्वीकार नहीं करती और भूख उस प्राणी को वैचारिक स्तर पर उस सामाजिक व्यवस्था को स्वीकार नहीं करने देती ! उस प्राणी के सामने सामाजिक व्यवस्था का कोई अर्थ ही नहीं रह जाता , उसकी भूख से बने भय के सामने ! इसका जीवंत उदाहरण मैंने हाल ही में एक धार्मिक मेले में देखा मेरे शहर बीकानेर में और ऐसा अन्य शहरों में भी होता होगा इसमें कोई दो राय नहीं ! क्यों कि भूख सभी शहर के प्राणियों को लगती है इस विश्व में ! बीकानेर का मेला श्री हनुमान जी का स्थान पूनरासर धाम पदयात्रा के मध्य नौरंगदेसर गाँव में समय रात्रि के ८ से ९ बजे के आस पास का ! नवयुवक मंडल सेवा समिति का टैंट जहाँ पदयात्रियों के लिए चाय , दूध , ब्रेड , नमकीन चावल के साथ पूरी सब्जी की सेवा थी पदयात्री रूपी प्राणियों की भूख को शांत करने को बिच जंगल में ! पर इस मध्य कुछ अन्य प्राणी भी मुझे नजर आये जो थे तो प्राणी मात्र ही पुरे परिवार के साथ पर सामाजिक व्यवस्था के अनुरूप किसी अन्य सम्प्रदाय या सीधे शब्दों में कहूं तो दूसरे धर्म से ! जहाँ श्री हनुमान जी भगवन को स्वीकार नहीं किया जाता ! पर उन प्राणियों की भूख और पारिवारिक स्थिति के साथ पुरे परिवार के प्राणियों द्वारा मेले जैसे माहौल का आनंद लेने में उन प्राणियों के और मेले के आनंद के मध्य उनका धर्म आड़े नहीं आता दिखा मुझे ! उन पलों में उन प्राणियों ने अपने धार्मिक बंधन को दरकिनार कर दिया स्थान दिया अपनी भूख को और उसे शांत करने के उपक्रम को जो सहज ही था प्राणी स्वभाव के अनुसार ! और अपनी भूख के लिए रोटी को चुना धर्म को दर किनार करते हुए ! क्यों की रोटी बनी ही है प्राणी संस्कृति में प्राणी मात्र की भूख को शांत करने के लिए ! धर्म भूख और रोटी से ऊपर नहीं या भूख के आगे धर्म कही टिकता ही नहीं ! ( हमारे एक प्राणी शाइर मित्र भी है बीकानेर में जिनका नाम है असद अली असद उनके लिए साहित्य परिवार के प्राणियों में एक तकिया कलाम भी चलता है मझाक मझाक में की जहाँ रसद वहाँ असद ! अब वहाँ केवल असद अकेले प्राणी नहीं होते वे सब प्राणी भी तो होते है जो ये तकिया कलाम मझाक में बोलते है असद के लिए ! तो बीकानेर के वरिष्ठ गीतकार /कवि स्वर्गीय श्री हरीश भादाणी जी ने तो यहाँ तक लिख दिया था की रोटी नाम सत है , सत से मुगत है ! उन्होंने प्राणी के जीवन का सबसे बड़ा सत्य ही रोटी को ही कहा अपने काव्य गीत में ! ) इस बात को और अच्छे तरीके से मनोवैज्ञानिक दृष्टि कोण से १८९० के आस पास मनोवैज्ञानिक मेग्डुगल ने बहुत पहले ही कुछ ऐसे कहा था ! उन्होंने कहा जीवन में दो ही कारण है जीवित रहने के पहला है भूख और दूसरा है भय ! भूख से भय बनता है और भय से भूख सक्रिय रहने की ! मैंने ये दर्शन शास्त्र का पाठ मास्टर ऑफ़ फाइन आर्ट पेंटिंग की पढाई के दौरान पढ़ा था ! जिसे चरितार्थ होते देखा श्री पूनरासर धाम की पदयात्रा में मध्य नौरंगदेसर पदयात्रा पड़ाव पर ! उन पलों में मैंने उन प्राणियों के छाया चित्र भी लिए उनकीअपनी प्राणी मात्र की जिजीविषा को पूर्ण करने के उदेश्य में लिप्त होते हुओं के अपनी भूख को शांत करते हुओं के मेरे कैमरा से ( इस छाया चित्र में एक प्राणी का परिवार गरम चाय के साथ ब्रेड और पूरी सब्जी का आहार ग्रहण कर रहा है ) जो यहाँ आप के अवलोकन हेतु प्रस्तुत है !

Creating the Intangible from The tangible ...

 

Friends, for the past few months, the refill of the ink pen that I use as my art material has been malfunctioning. So, while painting, I have to hit the refill of the ink pen on another piece of paper with the side of the refill knob, then the refill lasts for a while. I have to hit that piece of paper several times while painting a picture. In these seven-eight months, that piece of paper has suffered thousands of blows, only then I have been able to create some pictures. One piece of paper got a beautiful shape in the form of an art work at my hands, while the other piece of paper suffered thousands of blows at my hands to give it a shape. This paper and that paper too!

One got a shape and the other took blows to give it a shape. Although the other paper also got a shape with the same ink pen and my own hands, but that shape was only of my mental stress along with the blows and blows, which got a picture form on that paper unintentionally. That small piece of paper, after bearing innumerable blows from my hands and the ink pen's knob and absorbing my mental stress, also provided me with an opportunity to get busy in the process of painting! And what was drawn on that paper, got a shape through the blows of my ink pen, even without having any shape! Which contemporary art critics interpret as abstract painting and in that abstract painting, it can be seen and understood that I have created my mental pain, stress, anger, irritation, repeated breaks in the creative process, etc. on that paper with the blows of my ink pen, like an artist! That piece of paper is small to say, but it has relieved me of stress by bearing thousands of blows in my studio for months and also helped me in painting, so the scope of that paper has become very wide in my artistic view! It is said that the philosophy in art is a symbol of Satyam Shivam Sundaram and that small piece of paper in my studio brings to life the philosophical logic of this Satyam Shivam Sundaram of art in the form of an abstract creation! 

 I am remember the words of the European artist Kandinsky in which he had given a new logic for art! And that is that art can also happen by chance! So, I am able to see that coincidental artistic logic of the European artist Kandinsky in the spontaneous abstract painting made on that small piece of paper! And I am able to understand that this is also possible in the creation of art! While looking at that piece of paper which has now become an important abstract art piece in my studio,

 

 I also remembered the story of the very famous artwork of sensitive artist Vincent Van Gogh, "Vincent's Shoes". While making that painting, Vincent Van Gogh made his worn out old shoes the subject of the painting and said that when I had no one to call my own and I was walking on a long road in solitude, these shoes were on my feet so that my feet would not get blisters and they saved me from getting blisters. Being my own, these shoes are my biggest well-wisher and supporter, so now they deserve to be the subject of my painting! That small piece of paper has inspired me to think, understand and share a lot in art today and I have been able to say and share so much with you about my art thoughts! To what extent you agree or disagree, please let me know your thoughts! Here for your perusal I am sharing the photo image of that small paper whose measurement would be around three by four inches! But now from the artistic point of view its size has become very wide!

मित्रों पिछले कुछ महीनो से मेरे कला सामग्री के रूप में उपयोग में आने वाली इंक पेन की रिफिल गड़बड़ आ रही  है ! सो चित्र रचाव के समय मुझे इंक पेन कि रिफील को कागज के एक अन्य टुकड़े पर रिफिल की नोब की साइड से चोट करनी पड़ती है तब रिफिल कुछ देर चलती है!  ऐसी अनेको बार चोट करनी पड़ती है मुझे एक चित्र के रचाव के समय उस कागज के टुकड़े पर ! इन सात आठ  महीनो में उस कागज के टुकड़े ने हजारों चोट सही है तभी मैं  कुछ चित्र रचाव कर पाया हूँ  ! एक कागज ने मेरे हाथों सुन्दर रूप पाया कला कृति के  रूप में तो दूसरे कागज ने एक कागज को रूप देने के लिए हजारों अघात सहे मेर हाथों ! कागज ये भी और कागज वो भी ! एक ने रूप पाया और दूसरे ने रूप देने के लिए अघात खाया ! हालाँकि रूप दूसरे कागज ने भी पाया उसी  इंक पेन से और मेरे ही हाथ से पर वो रूप चोट और प्रहार के साथ मेरे मानसिक तनाव का ही था बस, जो चित्र स्वरुप अनायास ही पा गया उस कागज पर !
उस छोटे से कागज के टुकड़े ने मेरे हाथो और इंक पेन की नोब से असंख्य प्रहार सहने के बाद मेरे मानसिक तनाव को खुद में समेटने के बाद मुझे चित्र रचाव की प्रक्रिया में व्यस्त होने का अवसर भी बनाया ! और जो उस कागज पर बना वो मेरे इंक पेन के प्रहार द्वारा बिना आकर  के भी एक आकार पा गया !  जिसे समकालीन कला समीक्षक  अमूर्तन चित्र से व्याख्यायित करते है और उस अमूर्तन चित्र में ये  देखा और समझा जा सकता है की उसमे मेरे मन की पीड़ा , तनाव , आक्रोश, झुंझलाहट , सृजन क्रिया में बार बार के अवकाश आदि को मैंने मेरे इंक पेन की चोट से उस कागज पर रचड़िया घड़ दिया एक शिल्पकार की भांति ! कहने को वो कागज का टुकड़ा छोटा सा है पर उसने महीनो तक मेरे स्टूडियो में हजारो अघात सहते हुए मुझे तनाव से मुक्त भी किया है और  चित्रण में सहयोग भी सो उस कागज का फलक / दायरा बहुत ही विस्तृत हो गया है मेरी कलात्मक दृष्टि में !
कहते है कला में  जो दर्शन  है वो सत्यम शिवम् सुंदरम का द्योतक है और मेरे स्टूडियो का वो छोटा सा कागज का टुकड़ा कला के इस सत्यम शिवम् सुंदरम के दार्शनिक तर्क को चरितार्थ करता है एक अमूर्तन रचना के  रूप में !
मुझे यूरोपियन  कलाकार कानडिंस्की की वो बात भी  याद आती है जिसमे उन्होंने कला के लिए एक नया तर्क दिया था ! और वो ये की कला संयोगवश भी हो सकती  है ! सो मैं  उस छोटे से कागज के टुकड़े पर बने अनायास अमूर्तन चित्रण में वो संयोगवश वाले यूरोपियन कलाकार  कानडिंस्की के कला तर्क को भी देख पा रहा हूँ ! और समझ पा रहा हूँ की ऐसा भी संभव है कला के रचाव में !
मुझे वो कागज का टुकड़ा जो अब एक महत्त्व पूर्ण अमूर्तन कला कृति बन गयी है मेरे स्टूडियो की उसे देखते हुए मुझे संवेदनशील कलाकार विन्सेंट वान गॉग की बहुत चर्चित कलाकृति " विन्सेंट शूज" की कहानी भी याद आयी , उस पेंटिंग को बनाने में विन्सेंट वान गोग ने अपने फट्टे पुराने जूतों को चित्र का विषय बनाया और कहा की जब मेरे पास मेरा अपना कहने को कोई  नहीं था और मेरे एकांत में लम्बी सड़क पर चलते हुए मेरे पांवों में छाले  ना पड़े इसलिए ये जूते मेरे पैरों में थे और इन्होने मेरे पांवों में चालहोने से बचाया मेरे अपने होकर तो मेरे लिए  सब से बड़े हितेश और सहयोगी मेरे ये जूते है सो अब  ये मेरे चित्र का विषय बनने के हकदार है !
उस छोटे से कागज के टुकड़े ने मुझे आज  कला में  बहुत कुछ सोचने समझने और साझा करने के लिए प्रेरित कर दिया और मैं इतना कुछ कह पाया साझा कर पाया हूँ आप के साथ मेरी  कला विचारणा से  ! आप कितने सहमत है या असहमत मुझे अवगत जरूर करवाए अपने विचारों से !  
यहाँ  आप अवलोकन के लिए मैं  उस छोटे से  कागज का फोटो इमेज  साझा कर रहा हूँ   जिसका माप होगा कोई तीन गुणा चार इनचेस का ! पर अब कला की दृष्टि से उसका आकर अब बहुत  विस्तृत हो गया है !
