"The Foundation of Expression Lies in the Question of Art"
A distinctive feature of the Rajasthan School of Art in Jaipur—or perhaps a reflection of its culture—is that an art student graduating from there often emerges not just as a painter, but also as a successful art critic.
I have witnessed many such examples, and one prominent instance is the senior painter and art critic Shri Dilip Dave. He is my senior—indeed, a senior to my own seniors—yet he possesses an energy that rivals that of the youngest among us. This vitality stems from the fact that his thoughts are constantly focused on the evolution of art and its true essence; he dedicates his full energy and capability to presenting this vision to society.
Whether the task involves articulating arguments about art or encouraging and motivating a successful artist, he immediately commits himself to the work without delay, captivating the art world with his insightful writings.
Dilip Dave is a senior artist who moves with the times; he is deeply at home in—and fully immersed in—every facet of art. Whether it is traditional art, folk art, contemporary art, or modern digital art, he possesses a profound command over all these genres.
Lately, he has utilized social media as a platform to express his art and writings, remaining consistently active. He has produced an extensive series of articles on renowned artists from Rajasthan and across the country—a body of work that has garnered immense appreciation and popularity within online networks. You have recently launched a novel concept where, utilizing AI—a cutting-edge digital art medium—you pose a question arising from your own inquisitive artistic mind to artists across various genres. You then pair their responses with AI-generated images and share the combined result on your Facebook page, thereby offering other artists an opportunity to reflect and gain insight. This is a remarkable and meaningful experiment—one that is both welcome and inspiring—spearheaded by Mr. Dilip Dave.
So far, this series has featured three posts based on the responses of three artists: my art teacher Mr. Harshiv Sharma, senior artist and art critic Mr. Vinay Trivedi, and—in the third post shared today—myself. Through these three posts, you have showcased three generations of artists responding to a single question. From an evaluative standpoint, this is truly insightful, as it reveals how different generations perceive a single question and translate that thought into creative expression.
The question you have posed to all artists is: "When faced with a blank canvas, what is the first thought that comes to mind?"

Here, I am sharing the responses from senior painters Mr. Harshiv Sharma and Mr. Vinay Trivedi, along with my own, accompanied by the AI images created by Mr. Dilip Dave. I share this so you may see the diverse forms an answer to a single inquisitive question can take—and there is more to come, for this is merely the beginning, the launch of the series! And as the saying goes, a magnificent beginning promises a spectacular outcome.

मित्रों मेरी राजस्थान स्कूल ऑफ़ आर्ट कॉलेज जयपुर राजस्थान की ये विशेषता रही है या आप इसे वहाँ की संस्कृति भी कह सकते है कि वहाँ से निकला हुआ कला विद्यार्थी चित्रकार, चित्रकार के साथ एक सफल कला समीक्षक भी बन कर निकलता है !
मेरे सामने ऐसे अनेको उदहारण हैं और उन्ही उदाहरण मैंने से एक उदाहरण जो है वो है वरिष्ठ चित्रकार /कला समीक्षक श्री दिलीप दवे जी जयपुर ! आप मेरे सीनियर के भी सीनियर है और आप की ऊर्जा मेरे से भी जूनियर के जैसी है ! ऐसा इसलिए भी है क्योंकि आप का चिंतन प्रतिपल कला और कला के वास्तविक स्वरुप के विकास की और रहता है और आप उसे समाज के सामने प्रस्तुत करने में अपनी पूरी क्षमता और ऊर्जा के साथ लगे भी रहते है !
अब इस उपक्रम में कला पर अपने तर्क रखना हो या किसी सफल कलाकार को उत्साहित और प्रोत्साहित करना हो आप बिना कोई विलम्भ किये अपने प्रतिबद्ध कार्य में लग जाते है और कला जगत में अपने कला लेखन से सभी को चमत्कृत कर देते है !
सर दिलीप दवे समय के साथ चलने वाले वरिष्ठ कलाकार है आप को कला के सभी पक्ष खूब फबते है या आप उसमे रम जाते है अब वो चाहे पारम्परिक कला हो / लोक कला हो / समकालीन कला हो या फिर आज के समय की डिजिटल आर्ट , आप की कला के इन सभी पहलुँओं पर अच्छी पकड़ है !
सोशल मिडिया को आप ने इन दिनों अपनी कला और कला लेखन की अभिव्यक्ति का माध्यम बना रखा है और निरंतर सक्रिय रहते हुए कला लेखन कर रहे है , जिसमे आप ने श्रृंखला वार राजस्थान और देश के जाने माने कलाकारों पर लिखते हुए एक लम्बी श्रंखला चलायी है जिसे ऑनलाइन नेटवर्क पर खूब सरायी गयी है पसंद की गयी है !
अभी आपने एक लेटेस्ट कांसेप्ट स्टार्ट किया है जिसमे आपने एआई की मदद लेते हुए ( अति आधुनिक माध्यम डिजिटल आर्ट का ) अपने कला जिज्ञासु मन में उठे प्रश्न को सभी कला वर्ग के कलाकारों के समक्ष रखते हुए उनसे अपने प्रश्न का जवाब माँगा है और उस जवाब के साथ एक एआई इमेज भी बनाते हुए अपने प्रश्न के साथ कलाकार का उत्तर जोड़ते हुए उसे फेसबुक पेज से साझा करते हुए अन्य कलाकारों को भी सोचने और समझने का अवसर उपलब्ध करवा रहे है जो अध्भुत प्रयोग एक सार्थक प्रयोग कहा जा सकता है सर दिलीप दवे जी का जो स्वागत योग्य भी है और प्रेरक भी !
इस श्रृंखला में आप ने अभी तक तीन कलाकारों के प्रश्न लेते हुए तीन पोस्ट साझा की है जिसमे मेरे कला शिक्षक श्री हरशिव शर्मा जी , मेरे सीनियर कलाकार और कला समीक्षक श्री विनय त्रिवेदी जी और तीसरी पोस्ट मेरे प्रतिउत्तर को लेते हुए आज साझा की है ! इस हिसाब से आपने तीन पोस्ट में कला की तीन पीढ़ी को प्रस्तुत कर दिया अपने एक ही प्रश्न के साथ जो वास्तव में मूल्याङ्कन की दृष्टि से सही भी है की एक प्रश्न पर तीन पीढ़ी किस प्रकार से सोचती है उसे सृजन में परोटती है !
आप का प्रश्न है सभी कलाकारों के लिए की " केनवास खाली होता है तो पहला ख्याल क्या आता है ? "
