Fad Painting Is a Visual Script Of Folk Theater ..

Friend these days, I am visiting paintings of fad style on my social media network ( facebook/instagram )  from the page of artisan cum creative art master sir Kalyan Joshi. So yesterday, I was talked to him and asked some questions for gain to more  knowledge about this traditional fad painting of Rajasthan.

 

Artisan Master Kalyan Joshi is teaching of  fad painting process to his art students at Studio chitrshala Bhilwara Rajasthan ..

 We know our history is saying, when Boudh and Jain religions were get down after fear of Mugals attacks in India, That time art and culture promoters and creators  were transferred their own identity for safe to art and culture of our India , And after Boudh and Jain religions in India we are seeing many branches of art and culture with different - different names or styles. So this fad painting is also a second branch of Boudh and Jain religions. It was started in 9th  to 13 th century in India, Many Boudh and Jain artisans were  came to Rajasthan from Maharashtra/ Madhya Pradesh or Gujrat states. Here  in Rajasthan they were got protection by royal Rajputana families or kings.

In that  conditions some artisans of Boudh and Jain community was  came to  Bhilwara city of Rajasthan or there to they were started fad painting ( a new title to cloth /canvas painting ) , in this painting they were changed to subject and started to paint to folk story of folk god of that local area .  In very first they were painted to story of folk god "Dev Narayan ji ki Fad"  and "PABU JI KI FAD" Pabu ji is a folk god of Rajasthani folk culture. Many people's are praying in front of folk god Pabu ji,  In our folk culture of Rajasthan .  So this folk art and culture is living in mid of our society today in original  folk art form of fad painting.

Actually fad is a visual script of folk culture or spiritual folk stories of folk culture . 

For example in Rajasthani folk culture we have many folk God like Dev Narayan ji  pabu ji , Goga ji , Tejo ji, Jambo ji , Ramdev ji, Hariraam ji , and some more folk gods . And each one Folk god have a very spiritual story, we are calling to that "parcha " . so their spiritual stories are come and convert in form of visual script,  Thats folk name is "FAD CHITRAN" fad painting .

Bhopa and Bhopi is performing to Fad painting as a story teller ..

 In Bhilwara this fad painting was came very first by Chhochu Bhaat this Chhochu Bhaat was requested to Joshi family of Bhilwara for paint to fad painting on story of Folk god Dev Narayan ji . It was time of 9th century, Or the Chhochu Bhaat was first student of folk God Dev Narayan ji ,  so this Fad painting history was started from 9th century in folk culture of Bhilwara city of Rajasthan. Many generations of Joshi family were contributed their painting efforts and time to this fad painting, or before sir kalyan  Joshi his father Padamshree awarded Shrilal Joshi also painted to fad painting in Joshi family . so fad painting is their family job in Bhilwara city of Rajasthan. Today this fad painting is identity of  Bhilwara city. It is great achievement of folk art and culture of Bhilwara city.

 Sir Kalyan Joshi is taking to this fad painting as a family job or by this job he is completing his social duty as a care taker of folk art and culture of fad painting. He is saying about his art job, My fad painting is a complete folk theater and just like cinema, my fad painting is a visual script of folk god and contemporary time and the second part of this fad painting is  Bhopa, the Bhopa is a folk singer/folk musical instrument ( Rawanhatha )  performer, folk Dancer, actor, he plays his role as a Storyteller with his costar/ his wife Bhopi, they both are read to this visual script   Fad of Pabu ji or another folk god ..and share with peoples by a live performance of singing/ dancing/ musical performing. We are saying to it PABU JI KI FAD BAACHANA .. by this live folk art performance BHOPA AND BHOPI are educated to kids and give refreshment or peace of mind to mature people of society by this art performance. It is magical art exercise of folk art and culture of Rajasthan, It is surprise to each one listener of late night when a Bhopa start his live folk art performance FAD BHACHANA in silence of dark night .

Master kalyan Joshi was connected to this Fad painting work in age 8 year old, at his home, he said my home was my art institute my father padamshree shrilal joshi ji was painted and my mother was made Natural or stone colors and base for his fad painting in home. So I got natural environment of fad painting in my home . Today sir kalyan Joshi is national artisan, he has achieved national award for  his Fad panting. He has won Raja Ravi verma award in his art journey, master Kalyan Joshi has been exhibited his fad painting art in national or international stage, His fad panting is in collection of many international art museums / London, New York, Dubai, Spain, France, Uk, San Francisco, Australia and some more museums of other countries of our world.

At Present Sir Kalyan Joshi is managing his own art studio " CHITRASHALA " In Bhilwara  . There, he is teaching fad painting to new art students. It is very important art exercise of Sir Kalyan Joshi for great future of this folk art "fad painting ".

Master kalyan Joshi is taking to his fad painting work like a visual script or he is saying cinema to his fad painting work. Because he is paint to complete story of folk god and some more contemporary subjects in his own fad painting work, In covid time he is painted to story of critical covid-19  time of India in fad painting or that true contemporary fad painting work is in collection of museum - national gallery of Victoria Melbourne, Australia today. It is amazing for him or for his very creative or contemporary fad painting work.

Sir Kalyan Joshi also paint in his fad painting to social issues like water saved, fresh environment, child education, girl child safety, climate change and etc.

 kind your information i have visited that largest fad painting of Sir Kalyan Josi in Bikaner, when culture ministry was organized to SANSKRITIK MAHOTSAV IN Bikaner at MAHARAJA KARNI SINGH STEDIUM. I noticed in that fad sir Kalyan Joshi was painted to story of folk God of  Ramdev ji , Pabu ji , GOGA ji , i also shoot some visuals of that large fad painting  from my camera,  here i am share that photos for  your visit.  Now today his  large fad painting is in collection of IGNCA New Delhi . It is great feeling for sir Kalyan Joshi.

By dedication of fad paniting work master kalyan Joshi is writing to visual script of folk culture and this visual script writing  work is writing to script of successful  life of  fad painter Master kalyan Joshi .

so many dedicated , committed or love and  peace creator art doctor / masters are busy in his/ her true committed art job in mid of our society .
they are live full time busy in work of art and art communication or their  art aim is design to  love and peace in social life from true art exercise. so they are working  in form of  NGO , ACADEMIES, COMMUNITIES and ART STUDIOS .
some one are organizing art workshops of painters or sculptors , some one are creating exhibition online or offline . some one  are organizing to art competitions for create to art environment in mid of our society . over all they all are trying to communicate with our society through the art activity , by art activity they can know or understand to vision of a common person of our society  or they all  are trying to give love and peaceful feeling to a common person from true art activities .
we know art is a only one evidence of our historical culture  in our history of art , so it is sure in future this art will stand as a evidence of  present  culture for next generation of our society  .
it is a real job of artists so they are doing it from self commitment for art duty in mid of our society . in return they are gaining only credit of art creator  and identity of artist in mid of our society . it is also a  live example of design of  love and peace from  Artists duty .

for a live example i have a one more example for your notice , today i have received a  artist member identity card for myself  , this card was issued from Art Society Delhi collage of art . Delhi collage of art society is work  full time for contemporary art . its founder is art master sir  Ashwani kumar  prithviwasi  from Delhi .
 I am connected to him from last 15 years on his social media page Facebook .from his page i noticed how to he is working for art and art promotion , he is full time committed art master for art , he is organizing  to art workshops, exhibitions , demos and art seminars from his art community that is Delhi collage of art . 

 
In this days artist sir Ashwani kumar prithviwasi is registering to true committed artists of India for  his art community Delhi collage of art or he is giving membership to artist by registration on google form.
After registration of artist he is providing to registered artist gold and silver membership card in digital form on social media page . overall sir Ashwani kumar prithviwasi is connecting to all artists of our nation for take  a new step about creation of love and peace .
I am happy he is noticed to my registration or my art dedication plus commitment of  true art or art  creation of love and peace for  our society .

Continuity of Artist is create proper art  space in field of Art..

Friend  we know each one field of work is need proper commitment , dedication and continuity . this dedication, commitment and continuity are  path of success . so many dedicated persons are following  to this path in their original life. We can say to them committed person . 

 Their commitment and dedication plus continuity are  create proper space in mid of our social vision / life. Or They can make their own identity as a creator in mid of our social system /life. .

 I am saying about it because last few months to I am continue  visiting sketching work of a dedicated art doctor . his name is Dr. P.B. Gavani from Karnataka , I am connected to him on his facebook social network .

In this days he is creating line sketch’s on first Hindu poetry literature , we are calling to that RAMAYAN KATHA / GRANTH / , its first writer cum poet was Rishi / Muni  Walmiki ,  Rishi walmiki was presented in time of RAMAYAN KAAL, so he was wrote to biography of Gog shree Rama ( RAM )  in his poetic language . In Indian literature we are seeing to RAMAYAN GRANTH as a first literature  (hard copy )  book of Indian Literature .

Through the sketching of Dr. P. B Gavani each one visitor is reading to RAMAYAN GRANTH in very simple form or in very simple visual language on screen of digital medium through his facebook page or posts. It is amazing for digital viewers .

 

 Its live example I faced in my home , I and my niece Miss Gourangi Purohit ( child Art Master ) were started to  visiting  to sketching  work ( RAMAYAN GRANTH  ) of  Dr. P.B.Gavani from my facebook page on my laptop screen , that time my Niece Miss Gourangi asked to me what is this , I told to her , this is story of God RAMA in sketch’s , so she were demanded to me I want to see all sketch’s of this RAMAYAN . 

we were passed 4 hour’s in visit of sketches of Dr. P.B. Gawani or my niece Miss Gourangi purohit were read to Complete RAMAYAN GRANTH through the lins sketches of Dr. P. B . Gavani . it was great experience for my Niece Miss Gourangi Purohit ,she were learn a new mean of Visual art ( story telling tool ) . 

One by one we both were  visited all sketches of Dr. P.B. Gavani . or I noticed how to his sketches are telling story of RAMAYAN to my niece Miss Gourangi Purohit . she was reading to RAMAYAN through lines of Dr. P.B. Gavani . really it was amazing . 

In sketches of Dr. P.B. Gavani  you will notice to free space after main character of Ramayan Story. He is not trying to create any decorative art form in his simple sketches , it is specialty of his committed work . I can say it simple and sober .

 

After visit his committed or dedicated  work   on RAMAYAN GRANTH , you will accept to my words, because his continuity was pulled to my vision on his very important work on RAMAYAN GRANTH .
