B.K. School Alumni Group Gathering – No. 3

Friends, a fellow classmate from our B.K. School days, Giriraj Vyas, organized a get-together and a game of box cricket today—Sunday—at his private sports ground, 'R.K. Turf & Garden,' located on Kashi Vishwanath Temple Road. He invited all of us classmates to join, with the event scheduled from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM. The classmates who attended—myself, Yogendra Kumar Purohit, and the others—are listed below:

1. Yogendra

2. Krishan Kumar Acharya

3. Laxminarayan Chura

4. Tejesh Vyas

5. Giriraj Vyas

6. Ashok Prajapat

7. Mukesh Joshi

8. Ghanshyam Mohta

9. Vijay Kumar Purohit (Morsa)

We arrived on time, and we didn't just show up; each of us brought along some snacks to share. I brought homemade *suji* (semolina) *namkeen* and fine Bikaneri *bhujia*; Mukesh Joshi brought bananas; Krishan Kumar Acharya brought *falahari* (fasting-friendly) chips; and Laxminarayan Chura brought *kachoris*. As for our friend Giriraj Vyas, he truly opened his heart—and his treasures—to all of us! *Jai ho!*

Initially, we all gathered in the air-conditioned hall at the box cricket venue. We engaged in discussions centered on the spiritual philosophy of Bikaner and our *Sanatani* culture. The atmosphere in Giriraj Vyas’s hall was deeply imbued with spirituality; there was a dedicated seat (*asana*) for Maharaj Shri Premanand Ji, and the walls were adorned with spiritual slogans that radiated positive energy. Added to this was the effortless, warm company of friends—given my current state of mind, these moments felt nothing short of a heavenly experience. My heartfelt thanks to all my friends for creating such golden moments for me, and for helping to soothe and steady my restless mind.

After an engaging, hour-long discussion on spirituality, we—a group of old classmates—headed to a 'box cricket' arena. It felt as though our friend Giriraj Vyas had plucked a professional box cricket facility straight out of a major metropolitan city and dropped it right here in Bikaner! The arena was enclosed by nets—rising 30 feet from the ground and supported by a framework of iron channels—fitted with halogen lights. The ground was covered in green turf, and a full set of bats, wickets, and tennis balls was ready for play.

As it happened, a team of youngsters from 'Gen Z' arrived at the same time to play. We invited them to a match, and they readily accepted—likely thinking they would make quick work of us 'old-timers.' Given the time constraints, we set the match for 10 overs per side, with a rule that each player could bat for only one over. We tossed a coin, the 'B.K. School' team (our group) won, and the contest began: B.K. School versus Gen Z. We managed to score 95 runs in our 10 overs, which made the Gen Z team realize that we were no pushovers! However, being Gen Z, they rose to the challenge—chasing down the target in just 9 overs by scoring 97 runs. Though we lost the match, we certainly won the hearts of the Gen Z players. Afterward, we enjoyed some refreshments—much like a mid-match tea break—where we invited the entire Gen Z team to join us. The gathering concluded with Giriraj Vyas treating everyone to cold drinks and expressing his gratitude to all—especially the Gen Z team, whose participation, competitive spirit, and enthusiasm truly amplified the joy of the game for us all! Today marked the third gathering of our school friends' group—a truly meaningful occasion, rooted in a spirit of camaraderie, which served to further strengthen a bond spanning 35 years! Heartfelt thanks to all the friends who were able to attend; for those who could not make it, we will continue to create similar opportunities from time to time—chances to set aside time for one another, to reconnect, and to sit together and relive the past! Once again, cheers to our friendship!

For your viewing pleasure, here are some photographs and videos from today’s 'Box Cricket' match—played between our school group and 'Gen Z' at the RK Turf & Garden!
