"Only a creative person can truly grasp the significance of creativity."
Recently, Dr. Harishankar Acharya, the Assistant Public Relations Officer for Bikaner district, launched his poetry collection, *Nigahon Ke Samandar Mein* (In the Ocean of Gazes), from his official office auditorium in collaboration with the local organization 'Mukti Sansthan'.
I was invited to this launch ceremony as an artist because I had created the cover illustration for the book—a task undertaken at the author's special request. Dr. Acharya himself had made this request during a different literary event.
He had said to me, "Yogendra, for my fifth book, *Nigahon Ke Samandar Mein*, I want a hand-drawn illustration to serve as the cover—created in your own unique style and manner."
At the time, I wondered: in an era where publishing is shifting to digital formats, do publishers even feature hand-drawn art or designs on literary book covers anymore? Do publishers today have the time to commission an artist to create a cover based on the book's content and the author's vision? In this age of AI, such a process is often viewed as a waste of both time and money.
However, Dr. Harishankar Acharya is a man who stands apart from the crowd. He refuses to compromise on his creative work. That is likely why he asked me to create the cover art for his literary work—a collection of *Muktak* poetry titled *Nigahon Ke Samandar Mein*. He shared his vision, the book's themes, and its underlying purpose with me. Based on this, I sat in my studio and created a rough sketch—a preliminary layout—on ordinary paper and shared it with him. I gave visual form to the essence of the book and the sentiments of its author, Dr. Harishankar Acharya. In the artwork, I depicted a girl from behind and rendered one eye in blue; the backdrop portrays the chaotic life of a metropolis through buildings, while the background transitions from the deep blue of the ocean to the light hue of coastal sand.
This painting was a free-flowing creation, centered on the literary world envisioned by the author. Dr. Harishankar Acharya embraced this sentiment so deeply that he selected the artwork for the final design upon the very first viewing.
He recognized that the visual art—intended for his book cover—encapsulated all the elements, emotions, and imagery he had envisioned while writing *Nigahon Ke Samandar Mein* (In the Ocean of Gazes) and expressing it through the *Muktak* (quatrain) poetic style.
Only someone who has undergone the creative process can truly understand the various stages and states of mind a creator experiences. Understanding this, Dr. Harishankar Acharya chose to feature my handmade artwork on his book cover—a significant decision in this era of AI.

मित्रों पिछले दिनों उप जनसम्पर्क अधिकारी जिला बीकानेर डॉ. हरिशंकर आचार्य ने अपनी काव्य साहित्य की पुस्तक " निगाहों के समंदर में " को अपने आधिकारिक कार्यालय सभागार से बीकानेर की मुक्ति संस्थान के सहयोग से लोकार्पित की !
इस लोकार्पण समारोह में मुझे भी आमंत्रित किया गया बतौर एक चित्रकार क्योंकि पुस्तक " निगाहों के समंदर में " के आवरण पृष्ठ का चित्रण मैंने किया है ! लेखक श्री के एक विशेष आग्रह के लिए ! जिसे किया था लेखक स्वयं डॉ. हरिशंकर आचार्य ने एक अन्य साहित्य के कार्यक्रम में !
आप ने मुझ से कहा की योगेंद्र मेरी पांचवी पुस्तक " निगाहों के समंदर में " के लिए मैं चाहता हूँ की एक हाथ का बना चित्र मेरी पुस्तक का आवरण बने और उसे आप अपने अंदाज और शैली में बनाएं !
उस समय मैंने सोचा की डिजिटल स्वरुप में बदलता प्रकाशन और प्रकाशक का कार्य आज साहित्यिक पुस्तकों के आवरण से हस्त निर्मित चित्र /डिज़ाइन कहाँ प्रकाशित कर रहे है ? आज प्रकाशक के पास इतना समय ही कहाँ है की वो किसी चित्रकार को लेखक की पुस्तक दे और उस पुस्तक और लेखक की कल्पना के आधार पर कोई आवरण पृष्ठ तैयार करवाए लेखक की पुस्तक के मुख पृष्ठ के लिए ! आज ऐ आई के ज़माने में इसे समय की बर्बादी के साथ पैसे की भी बर्बादी समझा जाने लगा है !
खेर डॉ. हरिशंकर आचार्य भीड़ से अलग व्यक्तित्व के धनि है ! आप अपने सृजन और उस सृजन में किसी भी प्रकार का समझौता नहीं करते ! और यही कारण रहा होगा की आप ने मुझे अपनी साहित्यिक पुस्तक ( मुक्तक काव्य संग्रह ) " निगाहों के समंदर में " के आवरण पृष्ठ के लिए मुझे चित्र बनाने को कहा ! आप ने मुझे अपनी कल्पना पुस्तक के विचार और उदेश्य को भी साझा किया ! जिसकी तर्ज पर मैंने मेरे स्टूडियो में बैठ कर एक सामान्य से कागज पर कच्चा चित्र / स्केच/ लेआउट बनाकर उनके साथ साझा किया !
मैंने चित्र में पुस्तक और लेखक डॉ. हरिशंकर आचार्य के भावों को आकर दिया चित्र रूप में , चित्र में मैंने एक लड़की को पीठ की तरफ से दिखाया है , एक आँख नीले रंग की उकेरी और धरातल पर महानगर में उलझी जिंदगी के भाव को इमारतों से दर्शाया है और अंतराल ( बैक ग्राउंड ) में समंदर के नील रंग को गहरे से हल्के होते हुए हल्के समुंद्री रेत के रंग से दर्शाया !
मेरा ये चित्र एक स्वछन्द रचना ही रही एक लेखक के विचार और कल्पना के धरातल पर रचे हुए साहित्य को केन्द्र में रखते हुए ! जिसे उसी भाव में ग्रहण करते हुए साहित्यकार डॉ. हरिशंकर आचार्य ने उस चित्र को पहले अवलोकन में ही अंतिम चयन तक ले लिया !
इस बात को समझते हुए की रचनाशीलता जो की चित्र रूप में उनके सामने थी उनकी पुस्तक के आवरण पृष्ठ के लिए , उसमे वो सब तत्व, भाव और कल्पना समाहित रही जो की लेखक ने अपनी ये पुस्तक निगाहों के समंदर में को रचते हुए कल्पित की थी और फिर उसे मुक्तक शैली में अभिव्यक्ति दी थी !
रचना प्रक्रिया से गुजरने वाला व्यक्ति ही ये समझ सकता है की किसी भी रचना की रचना प्रक्रिया के दौरान क्या क्या स्थितियों से एक रचनाकार गुजरता है ! .हरिशंकर आचार्य ने भी यही सब समझते हुए मेरे द्वारा रचे हस्त निर्मित चित्र को आप ने अपनी पुस्तक के आवरण पृष्ठ पर स्थान दिया इस ऐ आई के समय में !
सो मेरे लिए बनाये गए इस विशेष कला सम्मान के लिए डॉ .हरिशंकर आचार्य को साधुवाद हृदय की गहराई से !
आप के इस प्रेरक पहल से अन्य लेखक , प्रकाशक भी इस बात को समझेंगे की रचना के लिए रचनाशीलता का कितना महत्त्व है , और साहित्य कला एक दूसरे के पूरक होने के साथ साथ अंतर सम्बन्ध भी रखते है ! जिसका एक जिवंत प्रमाण रचा है डॉ .हरिशंकर आचार्य ने अपनी पुस्तक " निगाहों के समंदर में " से साहित्य लेखक और प्रकाशक के समक्ष !
यहाँ पुस्तक निगाहों के समंदर में के आवरण पृष्ठ के चित्र की छाया चित्र प्रकाशन से पूर्व और प्रकाशन के पश्चात् की , साथ ही पुस्तक के लोकार्पण के समय की कुछ यादगार पलों के भी आप के अवलोकन के लिए !
