An opportunity to create murals arose again after 22 years, on January 22, 2026.

Friends, my interest in painting began in childhood, inspired by and influenced by the murals on the walls of Bikaner city! I'm mentioning this because just last week I received an invitation to participate in a mural painting workshop, and I did participate!

Two senior painters from my city of Bikaner, Painter Dharma Swami and Shri S.K. Nath, are two respected names among artists. They have dedicated their entire lives to this work and continue to do so today, with the same energy and commitment that is exemplary for every new artist! They have beautified Bikaner's city, railway station, government and private schools, government and private buildings, and almost all the temples of Bikaner through mural painting, and this work continues to this day!

The invitation you both extended to me was also for mural painting work on the walls of a newly constructed temple complex dedicated to Lord Shri Ram Chandra! This temple is located in the premises of the ancient cave temple in Pawan Puri Colony, Bikaner. The installation of the idol of Lord Shri Ram is yet to be done, but the rest of the temple is almost complete, and the painting and beautification work has begun!

To complete this beautification work on time, Painter Dharma and Shri S.K. Nath organized a one-day painting workshop and invited almost all the mural artists of Bikaner to participate. The participating artists were provided with a prepared wall measuring 15 feet by 5 feet, whitewashed, along with paints, brushes, and refreshments and lunch by the temple trust! I registered my participation in that workshop, dedicating only two hours, as both a painter and a critic! My sole purpose in going there was to encourage the participating artists with my critical writing! But when I saw senior painter and retired administrative officer of the Rajasthan government, Mr. S.K. Hathila, painting alone on a 5 by 15 foots wall, I decided to help him as an assistant painter, and I too joined him in the mural painting work! First, we painted the base/background with blue and green colors! We were given the theme of depicting a part of the story of Rama's exile! So, I created clouds on the blue background with white and golden yellow colors, and painter S.K. Hathila painted greenery, forest trees, and grass on the green background! Then Mr. S.K. Nath and painter Dharma Ji asked me to depict Lord Rama, Mother Sita, and Lakshman, along with some huts!

While working on that mural, I don't know when I transitioned from the role of an assistant painter to that of the main painter! I depicted two huts and, in proportion to those huts, the figures of Rama, Sita, and Lakshman in silhouette form using brown color. In two hours, both of us painters together tried our best to beautify that wall panel with a mural depicting a scene from Lord Rama's exile, according to the demands of the theme. How successful we were in this endeavor is something that only the devotees visiting the temple complex will be able to experience and express!

You might be surprised to know that in this artistic journey, I did mural painting again after almost 22 years at that Shri Rama temple in Pawan Puri Colony, Bikaner! Before this, I had done mural painting during my Master of Fine Arts (Painting) studies at the Rajasthan School of Art, Jaipur! There were approximately 8 to 10 murals, each measuring about 8 by 10 feet, and I did them all myself! All of these murals were based on the concepts for my academic submissions, not just for the beautification of my art college! Later, the opportunity to create murals again was made possible for me by painters Dharma Swami Ji and Shri S.K. Nath Ji in my city of Bikaner, so I extend my heartfelt gratitude to them!

That's why I wrote above that... the opportunity to create murals again arose after 22 years, on January 22, 2026.!

22 वर्षों बाद फिर से बना अवसर भित्ति चित्रण करने का 22 /1 /2026

मित्रों चित्रकला में रूचि मुझे बचपन से ही बनी थी और वो बनी बीकानेर शहर की भित्तियों पर बने चित्रों को देख कर उनसे प्रभावित होकर ! इस बात का जिक्र इस लिए कर रहा हूँ क्योंकि हाल ही में पिछले सप्ताह मुझे एक आमंत्रण मिला भित्ति चित्रण कार्यशाला में शिरकत करने का और मैंने उस कार्यशाला में शिरकत की भी !

मेरे शहर बीकानेर के दो वरिष्ठ चित्रकार पेंटर धर्मा स्वामी और श्री एस के नाथ दो प्रतिष्ठित नाम है चित्रकारों मे, आपने पुरे जीवन भर यही कार्य किया है और आज भी कर रहे है ! अपनी उसी ऊर्जा और प्रतिबद्धता के साथ जो अनुकरणीय है हर नए चित्रकार के लिए ! आप ने बीकानेर के नगर सौन्दर्यकरण , रैलवे स्टेशन के सौंदर्यकरण , सरकारी और गैर सरकारी स्कूल के सौन्दर्यकरण , सरकारी और गैर सरकारी भवनों के सौन्दर्यकरण के साथ साथ बीकानेर के लगभग सभी मंदिरों का भी सौन्दर्यकरण भित्ति चित्रण के द्वारा किया है और आज भी ये कार्य उनके द्वारा जारी है ,सतत जारी है !

मुझे जो आमंत्रण आप दोनों ने भित्ति चित्रण के कार्य के लिए दिया वो भी एक नव निर्मित भगवान् श्री राम चंद्र जी के मन्दिर परिसर की भित्तियों के चित्रण कार्य का ही था ! यह मंदिर बीकानेर की पवन पूरी कॉलोनी स्थित पौराणिक गुफा मंदिर के परिसर में बना है ! जिसमे भगवान श्री राम की प्रतिमा का प्रतिसंस्थापन होना बाकी है ! पर बाकी मंदिर लगभग पूर्ण हो चूका है, मंदिर का रंगांकन और सौन्दर्यकरण का कार्य आरम्भ है !

इस सौन्दर्यकरण के कार्य को समय पर पूर्ण करने हेतु पेंटर धर्मा और श्री एस के नाथ जी ने बीकानेर के लगभग सभी भित्ति चित्रण करने वाले कलाकारों को एक दिवसीय चित्रण कार्यशाला का आयोजन करते हुए उसमें आमंत्रित किया तथा सहभागिता लेने वाले कलाकारों को चित्रण हेतु तैयार दिवार माप 15 फिट गुणा 5 फिट व्हाइटवॉश की हुई , रंग ,ब्रश के साथ उपलब्ध करवाई तथा अल्पाहार और मध्यांतर का भोजन आदि भी सभी कलाकारों के लिए उपलब्ध करवाया मंदिर ट्रस्ट की और से !

मैंने उस कार्य शाला में मात्र दो घंटे का समय देते हुए अपनी सहभागिता दर्ज करवाई बतौर एक चित्रकार और समीक्षक ! वहाँ जाने का मेरा उदेश्य कार्यशाला में सहभागिता लेने वाले कलाकारों को मेरी समीक्षात्मक लेखनी से प्रोत्साहित करना भर ही था ! पर जब वरिष्ठ चित्रकार व् सेवानिवृत प्रसाशनिक अधिकारी राजस्थान सरकार श्री एस के हठीला जी को अकेले 5 गुणा 15 फिट की दिवार पर चित्रण करते देखा तो उनकी मदद एक सहायक चित्रकार के रूप में करने का मन बनाया और मैं भी उनके साथ भित्ति चित्रण के कार्य में लग गया ! पहले हमने नीले और हरे रंग से बेस / बैकग्राउंड रंगा ! हमें विषय मिला राम के वनवास की कथा के एक अंश को चित्रण करने का ! तो मैंने नीले रंग पर सफ़ेद के साथ सुनहरे पिले रंग से बादल बनाये और चित्रकार एस के हठीला जी ने हरे रंग पर हरियाली और जंगल के पेड़ के साथ घास आदि ! फिर मुझे श्री एस के नाथ जी और पेंटर धर्मा जी ने भगवान श्री राम के साथ माता सीता और श्री लक्ष्मण जी को उकेरने को कहा साथ में झोंपड़ियां भी !

उस भित्ति चित्रण कार्य को करते करते कब मैं सहायक चित्रकार की भूमिका से मुख्य चित्रकार की भूमिका में आ गया मुझे पता ही नहीं चला ! मैंने दो झोंपड़ी के साथ उन झोंपड़ी के अनुपात में श्री राम , सीता और लक्ष्मण की आकृति परछाई रूप मे भूरे रंग से उकेरी और दो घंटे मैं हम दोनों चित्रकारों ने मिलकर उस एक चित्र फलक की भित्ति को भित्ती चित्रण से भगवान श्री राम के वनवास के दृश्य से उकेर कर सौंदर्यबोध लाने का भरकस प्रयास किया विषय की मांग के अनुसार कितने सफल हुए ये तो उस मंदिर परिसर में आने वाले दर्शनार्थी ही अनुभूत कर पाएंगे और अभिव्यक्त भी !

आपको ये जानकर आश्चर्य भी होगा की मेरी इस कला यात्रा में मैंने लगभग 22 वर्षों बाद पुनः भित्ति चित्रण का कार्य किया बीकानेर की पवन पूरी कॉलोनी स्थित उस श्री राम मंदिर में ! इससे पूर्व मैंने मेरी मास्टर ऑफ़ फाइन आर्ट पेंटिंग की पढाई के दौरान राजस्थान स्कूल ऑफ़ आर्ट जयपुर में भित्ति चित्रणका कार्य किया था ! लगभग 8 से 10 भित्ति चित्रण जिनके माप रहे थे करीब करीब 8 गुणा 10 फिट और वो सब मैंने अकेले ही किये थे ! वे सारे चित्रण कार्य मेरे पढाई के सबमिशन कॉन्सेप्ट पर आधारित थे ! केवल मेरी आर्ट कॉलेज के सौंदर्यकरण के लिए नहीं ! उसके बाद पुनः भित्ति चित्रण करने का सौभाग्य या अवसर मेरे लिए बनाया पेंटर धर्मा स्वामी जी और श्री एस के नाथ जी ने मेरे शहर बीकानेर में सो उन्हें कोटिशः साधुवाद !
