On July 12, 2026, the 17th edition of the 'Rang Malhaar' art initiative was organized globally. Artists spent the entire day painting with the sentiment of invoking good rainfall from nature; the event was realized through both online and offline modes.
I, too, participated in the event as both an art student and a painter, engaging in the painting process through both online and offline formats.
This art initiative, 'Rang Malhaar'—conceived by the renowned Indian painter Dr. Vidyasagar Upadhyay—has been running for 17 years. Like an art teacher, Dr. Upadhyay assigns a specific object for artists to paint each year, inviting artists from both India and abroad to collectively create art based on that chosen subject. This year, he selected the 'chest/box/trunk' as the subject, and artists successfully brought 'Rang Malhar 2026' to life by painting it.
I felt it appropriate to share my observations and experiences—recorded in words alongside photographs—regarding how I witnessed and participated in 'Rang Malhaar 2026' alongside other artists, allowing you to view and experience it as well.

Friends, 'Rang Malhaar 2026' took place today, July 12, 2026, at the Shri Laxminath Temple complex in Bikaner. Commencing at 10:00 AM and concluding at 5:00 PM, the event was a resounding success, marked by profound artistic expression and presentation.
Approximately 100 artists from Bikaner participated in this 17th edition of 'Rang Malhaar,' comprising senior, young, and child artists, with equal representation from both male and female participants. For this year's 'Rang Malhaar'—a one-day art camp—the chosen subject for the painting exercise was a chest or box. Some artists brought their own from home (I, painter Yogendra Kumar Purohit, was one of them), while others were provided with them by the Dhora International Art Society, Bikaner, and the Bhoj Kala Nyas.
Artists ranging from children to seniors and the youth participated with great enthusiasm to bring to life the artistic vision of 'Rang Malhaar'—conceived 16 years ago by the renowned artist Dr. Vidyasagar Upadhyay—by painting these chests and invoking the hope for good rainfall. My role in 'Rang Malhar 2026' spanned both online and offline formats; online, I registered a chest painted in my studio directly with Dr. Vidyasagar Upadhyay. Offline, I attended the event this morning at the Shri Laxminath Temple complex to support the Dhora International Art Society and Bhoj Kala Nyas, and to assist Dr. Damodar Tanwar—a folk art expert who paints only on the day of 'Rang Malhaar'.
Senior painters Shri Mahavir Swami and Shri Prithvisingh Rajpurohit, along with Dr. Damodar Tanwar and myself, collaborated on painting a large chest. We were later joined by Master Mahesh Purohit and two young artists—girls from the Kachhawa family and granddaughters of social worker Shri Sitaram Kachhawa—whose contributions made the creative process truly special. Artists spanning three generations in Bikaner came together to paint a single chest, thereby showcasing the transmission of Bikaner's folk culture and artistic heritage from one generation to the next.

Additionally, Master Kamal Kishore Joshi from Bikaner's K.K. Art Academy and his students painted throughout the day. Meanwhile, Dr. Mona Sardar Dudi, Master Mukesh Sanchihar, and Master Sunil D. Ranga managed the event alongside the 'Rang Malhar 2026' coordinator, Master Saurabh Sharma, while also painting on the chests—an effort that was truly praiseworthy. At the closing ceremony of Rang Malhar 2026, senior artist Shri Mahavir Swami Ji from Bikaner was honored with the presentation of a painting; similarly, Shri Manoj Solanki, the convener of Bhoj Kala Nyas, was also honored with a painting. Both artworks were created by the senior artist Vinay Sharma from Jaipur.
Joining Shri Mahavir Swami Ji and Shri Manoj Solanki on the dais were artist Shri Prithvisingh Rajpurohit and social worker Shri Sitaram Kachhawa. These four distinguished guests encouraged all the participating artists and personally presented them with their participation certificates for Rang Malhar 2026.
Here, I present a selection of photographs—captured by both my camera and those of fellow artists—for you to view and appreciate this vibrant edition of Rang Malhaar 2026, which marked the event's 17th year. I extend my sincere gratitude to the organizing committees of Rang Malhar 2026, the district administration, and the MLA of Bikaner West, Shri Jethanand Vyas Ji; it was through your patronage that this event, steeped in an artistic atmosphere, was conducted so smoothly and successfully.

दिनाक 12 जुलाई 2026 को विश्व स्तर पर रंग मल्हार 2026 कला विचार को 17 वें अंक के रूप में आयोजित किया गया चित्रकारों द्वारा और प्रकृति से अच्छी वर्षा की कामना के भाव के साथ पुरे दिन चित्रण किया जिसमे ऑनलाइन औरऑफलाइन दोनों रूप में इसे साकार किया गया !
मेरी भी भूमिका इसमें एक कला विद्यार्थी के साथ चित्रकार की रही और मैंने ऑनलाइन और ऑफलाइन दोनों स्वरुप में सहभागिता दर्ज की चित्रकारी करते हुए !
डॉ, विद्यासागर उपाध्याय वरिष्ठ चित्रकार भारत - के इस कला विचार रंग मल्हार को 17 वर्ष हो गए है और हर वर्ष एक कला शिक्षक की भांति डॉ. विद्यासागर उपाध्याय ने चित्रकारों को ऑब्जेक्ट को चित्रित करने का टास्क दिया है और हर वर्ष एक अलग ऑब्जेक्ट का चयन करते हुए उस पर सामूहिक रूप से चित्रण करने का आव्हान भी किया है देश और विदेश के चित्रकारों से ! इस वर्ष का ऑब्जेक्ट आप ने चयनित किया संदूक / बक्सा / पेटी ! जिस पर चित्रकारों ने चित्रण करते हुए रंग मल्हार 2026 को सफल बनाया !
मैंने जिस प्रकार से इस रंग मल्हार 2026 को चित्रण करते हुए अन्य चित्रकारों के साथ देखा महसूस किया उसे वैसा ही शब्दों में भी लिखा छाया चित्रों के साथ उस लिखे हुए को यहाँ भी साझा करना मुझे उचित लग रहा है छाया चित्रों के साथ आप के अवलोकन और अनुभूत करने के लिए !

मित्रों रंग मल्हार 2026 आज दिनांक 12 जुलाई 2026 को श्री लक्ष्मीनाथ मंदिर परिसर बीकानेर में सुबह 10 बजे से आरम्भ होकर सायं 5 बजे बहुत ही कलात्मक अभिव्यक्ति और उसकी प्रस्तुति के साथ सम्पन हुआ !
रंग मल्हार 2026 के इस 17 वे संस्करण में बीकानेर के करीब 100 कलाकारों ने सहभागिता दी जिसमे वरिष्ठ , युवा और बाल कलाकार शामिल हुए जिनकी संख्या पुरुष और महिला दोनों वर्गों में बराबर की रही !
इस वर्ष रंग मल्हार एक दिवसीय चित्र कला शिविर का ऑब्जेक्ट ( वस्तु पर चित्रण ) चुना गया संदूक / बक्सा / पेटी जिसे कुछ कलाकार अपने घर से साथ लेकर आये ( उनमे मैं चित्रकार योगेंद्र कुमार पुरोहित भी एक था ), तो कुछ कलाकारों को धोरा इंटरनेशनल आर्ट सोसाइटी बीकानेर और भोज कला प्रन्यास ने उपलब्ध करवाए !
बाल कलाकारों से लेकर वरिष्ठ और युवा सभी कलाकारों ने बड़े ही उत्साह से रंग मल्हार के कला विचार जिसे रचा था 16 साल पहले देश के प्रख्यात कलाकार डॉ. विद्यासागर उपध्याय जी ने को साकार रूप दिया संदूक पर चित्रण करते हुए अच्छी वर्षा की कामना करते हुए ! मेरी भूमिका इस रंग मल्हार 2026 के आयोजन में दो रूप में रही ऑनलाइन और ऑफलाइन भी ! ऑनलाइन से मैंने मेरे स्टूडियो से मेरे द्वारा चित्रित किये हुए बक्से को पंजीकृत करवा दिया सीधा डॉ. विद्यासागर उपाध्याय जी को , फिर धोरा इंटरनेशनल आर्ट सोसाइटी और भोज कला प्रन्यास के सहयोग हेतु तथा साल में सिर्फ रंग मल्हार के दिवस पर ही चित्र रचने वाले कलाकार लोक कला मर्मज्ञ डॉ. दामोदर तंवर जी के लिए भी उपस्थित हुआ रंग मल्हार 2026 के ऑफलाइन आयोजन में आज सुबह श्री लक्ष्मीनाथ मंदिर परिसर में !
वरिष्ठ चित्रकार श्री महावीर स्वामी जी , वरिष्ठ चित्रकार श्री पृथ्वीसिंह राजपुरोहित जी, डॉ. दामोदर तंवर और मैंने एक बड़े संदूक पर संयुक्त रूप से चित्रण कार्य किया बाद में हमारे चित्रण कार्य में मास्टर महेश पुरोहित और दो बाल कलाकार कच्छावा परिवार की बच्चियाँ जो समाज सेवी श्री सीताराम कच्छावा जी की पोतियों रही उन्होंने ने भी सहयोग दिया जो बहुत ही रचनात्मक कार्य रहा ! एक संदूक पर बीकानेर की तीन पीढ़ी के कलाकारों ने एक साथ चित्रण करते हुए बीकानेर की लोक संस्कृति और कला संस्कार पीढ़ी दर पीढ़ी देने को भी प्रस्तुत किया !
इसके अलावा बीकानेर की के के आर्ट अकादमी के मास्टर कमल किशोर जोशी और उसके अकादेमी के कला विद्यार्थियों ने भी चित्रण किया पुरे दिन ! साथ ही डॉ. मोना सरदार डूडी, मास्टर मुकेश सांचिहर , मास्टर सुनील डी रंगा ने रंग मल्हार 2026 के संयोजक मास्टर सौरभ शर्मा के साथ प्रबंधन करते हुए तथा साथ में संदूक पर चित्रण भी किया ! जो तारीफे काबिल बात रही उन सब की !
रंग मल्हार 2026 के समापन के समय बीकानेर के वरिष्ठ चित्रकार श्री महावीर स्वामी जी का सम्मान उन्हें एक चित्र भेंट करते हुए किया गया साथ ही भोज कला प्रन्यास के संयोजक श्री मनोज सोलंकी जी का भी सम्मान उन्हें एक चित्र भेंट करते हुए किया गया वे दोनों चित्र वरिष्ठ चित्रकार विनय शर्मा जयपुर के बनाये हुए थे !
समापन के मंच पर श्री महावीर स्वामी जी और भोज कला प्रन्यास के संयोजक श्री मनोज सोलंकी के साथ मंच पर उपस्थित रहे चित्रकार श्री पृथ्वीसिंह राजपुरोहित जी और समाज सेवी श्री सीताराम कच्छावा जी। आप चरों मंचासीन प्रबुद्ध जन ने सभी कलाकारों का उत्साह वर्धन किया साथ ही रंग मल्हार 2026 में प्रतिभागिता के प्रमाण पत्र भी अपने कर कमलों से भेंट किये !
यहाँ मेरे कैमरा और साथी कलाकारों के कैमरा से लिए गए कुछ छाया चित्र आपके अवलोकन हेतु प्रस्तुत है ताकि आप भी अवलोकित करे रंग मल्हार 2026 के इस रंगात्मक संस्करण को जो 17 वां रहा ! सो एक साधुवाद मेरी और से , रंग मल्हार 2026 के आयोजक समितियों को और जिला प्रशासन के साथ बीकानेर पश्चिम के विधायक श्री जेठानन्द व्यास जी को !क्योंकि आप के संगरक्षण से ये आयोजन सहज और सरल रूप से सम्पन हुआ कलात्मक माहौल में लबरेज होकर !
