"I Participated in Another Seminar on the Rajasthani Language Organized by the Sahitya Akademi, New Delhi"
Friends, today I received an invitation to attend—as a member of the audience—a one-day seminar organized by the country's premier institution for literature and language, the Sahitya Akademi, New Delhi. This invitation was extended to me by Shri Madhu Acharya 'Ashavadi', a litterateur and member of the Sahitya Akademi’s Rajasthani Language Advisory Board.
The theme of the seminar was "Rajasthani Literary Magazines." The event comprised four sessions, commencing at 10:30 AM and concluding at 5:00 PM. It was organized jointly by the Sahitya Akademi and the Dr. Bhagwan Das Kiradu Navin Samiti, Bikaner, and held at the District Industries Association Hall in Bikaner.
The seminar was moderated by Shri Sanjay Purohit, a litterateur and member of the Sahitya Akademi’s Rajasthani Language Advisory Board, while the entire event was coordinated by Shri Nagendra Narayan Kiradu, Manager of the Dr. Bhagwan Das Kiradu Navin Samiti, Bikaner.
The first session was the inaugural session, presided over by Dr. Arjun Dev Charan, who also serves as the Convener of the Rajasthani Language Advisory Board at the Sahitya Akademi, New Delhi. Sharing the dais with him were litterateur Shri Madhu Acharya 'Ashavadi' and Shri N. Suresh Babu, Deputy Secretary of the Sahitya Akademi, New Delhi.

During the inaugural session, the distinguished guests on the dais were honored with traditional shawls (*shol*) and stoles (*uparana*), as well as floral garlands.
Subsequently, Deputy Secretary Shri N. Suresh Babu delivered the welcome address. He elucidated the seminar's theme—"Rajasthani Literary Magazines"—and welcomed the paper presenters as well as the audience members on behalf of the Sahitya Akademi. Writer Shri Madhu Acharya 'Ashawadi' shared his personal experiences while discussing literary magazines and their theoretical aspects, presenting perspectives that covered both the merits and challenges associated with Rajasthani magazines.
Delivering the presidential address, Dr. Arjun Dev Charan concluded the first session by elucidating the history of Rajasthani magazines and the persistent challenges regarding readership and publication from a literary standpoint; he also expressed hope that the presenters in the upcoming session would highlight positive aspects of the seminar's theme.
After the tea break, writer Sanjay Purohit, moderating the session, invited writer Mahendra Singh to the stage, along with writer Shri Kunjan Acharya to preside over the proceedings; writer Hakam Ali could not attend due to unforeseen circumstances, so his paper was not presented.
Writer Mahendra Singh presented his paper on the history of Rajasthani magazines, discussing publications ranging from those dating back 200 years to contemporary ones. He outlined the history of these magazines and enumerated the reasons why, with the exception of *Jagti Jot*, few have managed to sustain publication over the long term.
Speaking as the session chair, writer Shri Kunjan Acharya elaborated on the challenges facing Rajasthani magazines and potential solutions. Addressing the editors, he advocated for leveraging modern technology to publish magazines and reach readers effectively. He also advised editors to exercise caution regarding the pitfalls of 'over-smart' AI tools in their work. Following the post-lunch break, the second session commenced with litterateur Sanjay Purohit inviting Shri Gajeshingh Rajpurohit to preside over the proceedings. He then invited Dr. Namami Shankar Acharya (former editor, Rajasthani Language, Literature, and Culture Academy, Bikaner, Rajasthan) and litterateur-journalist-editor Shri Dhirendra Acharya to the stage for paper presentations.

During this session, Dr. Namami Shankar Acharya shared personal experiences regarding the challenges and difficulties faced by editors of magazines—specifically those emerging from editorial desks—and the intricacies of the editing process itself. In a single sentence, one could describe his presentation as a "first-hand account based on real-life experiences."
Litterateur Dhirendra Acharya emphasized that Rajasthani magazines and their editors must evolve with the times. He advocated for adopting mediums like digital and online magazines to make Rajasthani language and literature accessible to readers. Noting that—especially in the era of 'Gen Z'—readers are often not reaching the magazines or the published Rajasthani literature, he stressed the necessity of delivering this content to them via online platforms. He also identified the market as a challenge standing between Rajasthani literature and the reader; the market has now cemented a role between the literary/editorial aspects and the audience—a dynamic that editors and magazines need to navigate carefully.
Delivering the presidential address, litterateur Shri Gajeshingh Rajpurohit commented on the papers presented by both speakers, acknowledging the editor's inherent challenges: the need to publish, to curate content, and to maintain a continuous publication schedule. He noted that every editor striving to preserve the Rajasthani language must grapple with these issues. Speaking on the subject of digital magazines, he emphasized that a magazine is a comprehensive document, making its print version essential; the digital format alone does not guarantee secure long-term preservation. He further stressed that alongside the language and literary content, a magazine requires a consistent historical structure and must strictly adhere to linguistic decorum.
The chairpersons and paper presenters of both sessions were honored on stage; during this segment, I had the privilege—at the invitation of the session moderator, Shri Sanjay Purohit—of presenting a memento to Shri N. Suresh Babu, Deputy Secretary of the Sahitya Akademi, New Delhi, during the inaugural session.

The concluding session took place after the tea break. Moderator Shri Sanjay Purohit invited litterateur Shri Ram Swarup Kishan to preside over the session, alongside Dr. Rajesh Kumar Vyas (art critic, columnist, and editor), Dr. Nagendra Narayan Kiradu, Dr. Bhagwan Das Kiradu (Manager, Naveen Samiti Bikaner), and Shri N. Suresh Babu (Deputy Secretary, Sahitya Akademi, New Delhi).
Summarizing the day's seminar, Dr. Rajesh Kumar Vyas emphasized the necessity for editors, Rajasthani magazines, and the language itself to evolve with the times. You cited numerous examples of literary magazines—both modern and traditional—noting that those which adapted to the times have endured to this day; you specifically mentioned *Jagti Jot*, alongside others such as *Manak*, *Kathe-sar*, *Aha Zindagi*, and Bikaner’s online quarterly *Maru Navkiran* (edited by Dr. Ajay Joshi). Writer Shri Ramswaroop Kisan also shared his personal experiences, detailing the journey of the magazine *Kathe-sar*—from its initial concept and inception to its ongoing publication—and the various challenges encountered along the way. Speaking as an editor, he praised the presenters for effectively addressing the subject matter; he noted that if these papers were published, they would greatly enhance the readership's understanding of the editing and publishing of Rajasthani language magazines.
During the vote of thanks, Shri N. Suresh Babu (Deputy Secretary, Sahitya Akademi, New Delhi) offered the first expression of gratitude. After briefly introducing himself, he voiced concern regarding the day's seminar: while the discussions on the topic were serious and substantive, the audience lacked representation from the student community—specifically, no one under the age of 30 was present—a fact he deemed worrying for the future of the Rajasthani language. He also expressed concern that Rajasthani is not being taught in schools—particularly at the primary level—within Rajasthan, noting that Rajasthani is an organically evolved language, unlike Hindi, which was constructed.

While listening to the critical questions raised by Shri N. Suresh Babu, Deputy Secretary of the Sahitya Akademi (New Delhi), as an audience member, a thought occurred to me. The Government of India and its Ministry of Culture recognize Rajasthani as an Indian language—going so far as to facilitate publications and confer awards like the Padma Shri through the Sahitya Akademi. This establishes beyond doubt that Rajasthani is an 'academic language' of India, formally accepted as such by the Akademi. Like other Indian languages, it possesses its own grammar and a long history, and is spoken in the state of Rajasthan. Yet, when the Akademi's Deputy Secretary expresses concern that Rajasthani is not taught in primary education in the state, or questions why students of the language are absent from a one-day seminar organized by a local cultural institution, a counter-question arises for the Sahitya Akademi and Shri N. Suresh Babu: Is it not the Akademi's responsibility to champion the cause of this language—which it has already validated—by appealing to the Supreme Court of India to enforce its formal academic recognition? After all, a language's authenticity is established through the Akademi's own statutes; the Sahitya Akademi has already affirmed Rajasthani's status by including it in its list of recognized languages and instituting awards and honors for it. I hope that the next time the Sahitya Akademi organizes a seminar on the Rajasthani language in any city in Rajasthan, it does so only after securing formal recognition from the Supreme Court. Only then will students of the language attend in full force and with enthusiasm, and school children will study Rajasthani in primary education—with the credit for this achievement going to the country's premier literary body, the Sahitya Akademi, New Delhi. I hope that Mr. N. Suresh Babu, Deputy Secretary of the Sahitya Akademi, New Delhi, will convey these sentiments—along with the views of the Rajasthani Language Advisory Board—to the President of the Sahitya Akademi.
Dr. Nagendra Narayan Kiradu extended the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude from the dais to all the paper presenters, chief guests, and the audience.

मित्रों आज मुझे आमंत्रण मिला देश की सब से बड़ी साहित्य और भाषा की अकादमी - राष्ट्रीय साहित्य अकादेमी नई दिल्ली के एक दिवसीय ज्ञान गोठ ( सेमिनार ) में बतौर एक श्रोता की भूमिका में उपस्थित होने का ! मुझे ये आमंत्रण भेजा साहित्य अकादमी नई दिल्ली के राजस्थानी भाषा परामर्श मंडल समिति के सदस्य साहित्यकार श्री मधु आचार्य आशावादी जी ने !
एक दिवसीय ज्ञान गोठ ( सेमिनार ) का विषय रहा " राजस्थानी साहित्यिक पत्रिकाएं " और ये सेमिनार चार सत्र में सम्पन हुआ जो सुबह 10 :30 से आरम्भ होते हुए सायं 5 बजे समाहार के साथ सम्पन हुआ !साहित्य अकादमी एवम डॉ. भगवान दास किराडू नविन समिति बीकानेर के संयुक्त तत्वावधान में ये ज्ञान गोठ /सेमिनार बीकानेर के जिला उद्योग संघ भवन के सभागार में आयोजित किया गया !
चार सत्र के इस ज्ञान गोठ /सेमिनार का सञ्चालन किया साहित्यकार और साहित्य अकादेमी के राजस्थानी भाषा परामर्श मण्डल के सदस्य श्री संजय पुरोहित जी ने और पुरे आयोजन को संयोजित किया साहित्यकार श्री नगेन्द्र नारायण किराडू जी प्रबंधक डॉ. भगवान दास किराडू नवीन समिति बीकानेर ने !
पहला सत्र उद्घाटन सत्र का रहा जिसमे अध्यक्षता की डॉ. अर्जुन देव चारण साहब ने आप साहित्य अकादेमी नई दिल्ली में राजस्थानी भाषा परामर्श मंडल के संयोजक भी है ! आप के साथ मंच पर उपस्थित रहे साहित्यकार श्री मधु आचार्य आशावादी जी और उप सचिव साहित्य अकादमी नई दिल्ली श्री ऍन सुरेश बाबू !
उद्घाटन सत्र में पहले सभी मंचासीन प्रबुद्ध जन का सम्मान किया गया उन्हें सोल और उपरणा भेंट करते हुए साथ में पुष्पहार भी पहनाते हुए !
फिर स्वागत भाषण देते हुए उप सचिव साहित्य अकादेमी श्री ऍन सुरेश बाबू ने आज की ज्ञान गोठ / सेनीमार के विषय " राजस्थानी साहित्यिक पत्रिकाएं " को स्पष्ट करते हुए सभी पत्र पढ़ने वाले पत्रवाचकों का भी स्वागत किया साथ में उपस्थित श्रोता गण का भी साहित्य अकादेमी की और से स्वागत किया !
साहित्यकार श्री मधु आचार्य आशावादी जी ने साहित्यिक पत्रिकाओं और उसके सैद्धांतिक पक्ष पर अपनी बात कहते हुए अपने निजी अनुभव साझा किये जो की राजस्थानी पत्रिकाओं के सन्दर्भ में पक्ष और विपक्ष दोनों पक्षों को लिए हुए थे !
अध्यक्षीय उद्बोधन देते हुए डॉ. अर्जुन देव चारण जी ने राजस्थानी पत्रिकाओं के इतिहास के साथ उसके पाठक और प्रकाशन के सन्दर्भ में जो परेशानी अड़चन की भांति सदैव उपस्थित है उसे अपने साहित्यिक दृष्टि से स्पष्ट करते हुए पहले सत्र का समाहार किया और अगले सत्र में सेमिनार के विषय पर आगे पत्र पढ़ने वाले पत्रवाचकों से सकारात्मक पक्ष को प्रस्तुत करने की उम्मीद भी जाहिर की !
चाय के तत्पश्चात पहले सत्र का संचालन करते हुए साहित्यकार संजय पुरोहित जी ने मंच पर आमंत्रित किया साहित्यकार महेंद्र सिंह जी को , और उनके साथ अध्यक्ष पद हेतु साहित्यकार श्री कुंजन आचार्य जी को, साहित्यकार हाकम अली किसी कारण से उपस्थित नहीं हो सके सो उनका पत्र नहीं पढ़ा गया मंच से !
साहित्यकार महेंद्र सिंह जी ने राजस्थानी पत्रिकाओं के इतिहास पर अपने पर्चे को पढ़ा जिसमे उन्होंने 200 साल पहले की राजस्थानी पत्रिका का जिक्र अपने पर्चे में किया तो आज के समय की समकालीन राजस्थानी पत्रिकाओं का भी जिक्र किया ! आप ने भी राजस्थानी पत्रिकाओं में जगती जोत के इतर किसी भी पत्रिका के लम्बे समय तक प्रकाशित न होने के कई कारण गिनाते हुए राजस्थानी पत्रिकाओं का इतिहास सब के समक्ष अपने पत्र से प्रस्तुत किया !
अध्यक्ष के रूप में बोलते हुए साहित्यकार श्री कुंजन आचार्य जी ने राजस्थानी पत्रिकाओं के विषय में समस्या और उसके निवारण की बात को विस्तार से स्पष्ट किया ! आप ने आज की आधुनिक तकनीक के जरिये भी राजस्थानी पत्रिका के प्रकाशन और पाठक तक पहुँचाने की पहल करने की बात राजस्थानी पत्रिकाओं के संपादकों को सम्बोधित करते हुए कही ! आप ने डेढ़ होशयार ऐ आई से भी संभलकर बचते हुए कार्य करने की बात भी सम्पादकों के लिए कही !
मध्यांतर में भोजन के उपरांत दूसरे सत्र को संचालित करते हुए साहित्यकार संजय पुरोहित जी ने मंच पर आमंत्रित किया अध्यक्ष पद पर साहित्यकार श्री गजेसिंह राजपुरोहित जी को और पत्रवाचन के लिए आमंत्रित किया मंच पर डॉ. नमामि शंकर आचार्य ( पूर्व संपादक राजस्थानी भाषा साहित्य एवम संस्कृति अकादमी बीकानेर राजस्थान ) और साहित्यकार पत्रकार संपादक श्री धीरेन्द्र आचार्य जी को !
इस सत्र में डॉ. नमामि शंकर आचार्य ने भी सपादकीय डेस्क से निकलने वाली पत्रिकाओं और उसके संपादक के समक्ष क्या क्या परेशानियों और चुनौतियों को झेलना और उन्हें कैसे कैसे सम्पादित करना पड़ता है उसे अपने निजी अनुभवों के साथ प्रस्तुत किया ! जिसे मैं ये कह सकता हूँ एक वाक्य में की " जिवंत घटना पर आधारित अनुभव की बयानी "
साहित्यकार धीरेन्द्र आचार्य जी ने भी समय के साथ राजस्थानी पत्रिकाओं और उसके सम्पादकों को चलना और चलाना होगा ! जिसमे डिजिटल /ऑनलाइन मैगज़ीन जैसे माध्यम को अपनाते हुए राजस्थानी भाषा और उसके साहित्य को पाठक उपलब्ध करवाने होंगे , पाठक पत्रिका और उसमें प्रकाशित राजस्थानी साहित्य तक नहीं पहुँच रहा है इस जेन जी के टाइम में तो पत्रिका और राजस्थानी साहित्य को पाठक तक ऑनलाइन माध्यम के जरिये पहुँचाना जरुरी है ! आप ने राजस्थानी साहित्य और पाठक के मध्य बाजार को भी एक संकट माना , क्योंकि साहित्य और संपादन के तकनिकी पक्ष के मध्य बाजार का भी एक रोले अब फिक्स हो चूका है जिस से भी संपादक और पत्रिकाओं को बचाना है !
अध्यक्षीय उद्बोधन देते हुए साहित्यकार श्री गजेसिंह राजपुरोहित जी ने दोनों पत्रवाचकों के पत्र पर अपनी बात कहते हुए ये स्वीकारा की सपादक की अपनी मज़बूरी और समस्या है की प्रकाशन भी करना है प्रकाशन सामग्री भी संग्रहित करनी है और प्रकाशन का क्रम निरंतर जारी रखना है ! आप ने ये भी माना की राजस्थानी के संगरक्षण के लिए हर एक संपादक को इस समस्या से दो दो हाथ करने ही होते है ! आपने डिजिटल पत्रिकाओं के विषय पर बोलते हुए कहा की पत्रिका एक सम्पूर्ण दस्तावेज होता है सो उसका मुद्रण अति आवश्यक है ! डिजिटल स्वरुप उसे संग्रक्षित करने में पूर्ण रूप से सुरक्षित नहीं है ! और भाषा के साथ साहित्यिक स्वरुप भी जरुरी है राजस्थानी पत्रिकाओं का साथ में उसका ऐतिहासिक और एक समरूप स्ट्रक्चर भी आवश्यक है साथ में भाषा की मर्यादा का भी अनुपालन अति जरुरी है !
दोनों सत्र के अध्यक्ष और पत्रवाचकों का मंच से सम्मान किया गया इस उपक्रम में मुझे भी उद्घाटन सत्र में उप सचिव साहित्य अकादमी नई दिल्ली श्री ऍन सुरेश बाबू को एक प्रतिक चिन्ह देने का सौभाग्य भी मिला मंच संचालक श्री संजय पुरोहित जी की और से !
समापन सत्र भी चाय के उपरांत रखा गया जिसमे मंच सञ्चालन करते हुए साहित्यकार संजय पुरोहित जी ने अध्यक्ष पद पर आसीन किया साहित्यकार श्री राम स्वरुप किशन जी को और उनके साथ डॉ. राजेश कुमार व्यास ( कला समीक्षक / कोलंनिष्ट /संपादक ), डॉ. नगेन्द्र नारायण किराडू प्रबंधक डॉ. भगवान दास किराडू नवीन समिति बीकानेर और उप सचिव साहित्य अकादेमी नई दिल्ली श्री ऍन सुरेश बाबू को !
डॉ. राजेश कुमार व्यास जी ने आज की ज्ञान गोठ / सेमिनार का समाहार करते हुए समय के साथ सपादक और राजस्थानी पत्रिकाओं और उसकी भाषा को भी बदलना होगा ये जरुरी है इस बात पर आप ने जोर देते हुए कहा ! आप ने कई साहित्यिक उदहारण दिए जिसमे आधुनिक और पौराणिक साहित्यिक पत्रिकाओं का जिक्र करते हुए समय के साथ जो पत्रिका बदली या चली वो आज तक काबिज है जिसमे आप ने जागती जोत का नाम भी उल्लेखित किया उसके समक्ष कुछ अन्य पत्रिकाओं का भी जैसे माणक ,कथेसर ,आहा जिंदगी , बीकानेर की मरू नवकिरण ऑनलाइन त्रेमासिक पत्रिका / सपादक डॉ. अजय जोशी जी आदि का
भी उल्लेख किया !
साहित्यकार श्री रामस्वरूप किसान जी ने भी अपने निजी अनुभव को साझा करते हुए विस्तार से कथेसर पत्रिका के विचार से निर्माण और आज तक के प्रकाशन के सफर में आयी समस्त समस्याओं को साझा किया ! संपादक के रूप में आप ने सभी पत्रवाचकों की तारीफ़ करते हुए कहा की सभी ने विषय को समेटते हुए अपने पत्र पढ़े जिनका भी प्रकाशन हो तो पाठक वर्ग का ज्ञान विकसित हो राजस्थानी भाषा की पत्रिकाओं के संपादन और प्रकाशन के विषय में !
आभार के क्रम में पहला आभार दिया साहित्य अकादेमी नई दिल्ली के उप सचिव श्री ऍन सुरेश बाबू ( तमिलनाडु ) ने , आप ने अपने बारे में संक्षिप्त परिचय देते हुए ये चिंता जाहिर की , कि आज की इस एक दिवसीय ज्ञान गोठ/ सेमिनार में विषय पर बहुत गंभीर और सारगर्भित बात हुई पर इस सेमिनार में श्रोतागण में कोई भी 30 वर्ष की उम्र से कम का विद्यार्थी वर्ग शामिल नहीं हुआ ! जिसे उन्होंने चिंता का विषय कहा राजस्थानी भाषा के लिए ! आप ने ये भी चिंता जाहिर की की स्कूली शिक्षा में प्राथमिक शिक्षा में राजस्थानी राजस्थान की स्कूलों में नहीं पढ़ाई जा रही जबकि राजस्थानी भाषा स्वयं से निर्मित भाषा है इसे बनाया नहीं गया है हिंदी भाषा की तरह !
एक श्रोता के रूप में उप सचिव साहित्य अकादमी नई दिल्ली श्री ऍन सुरेश बाबू के समीक्षात्मक प्रश्न सुनते हुए मुझे ये विचार आया की देश की सब से बड़ी साहित्य की अकादमी जिसे भारत सरकार और उसका संस्कृति मंत्रालय जब राजस्थानी भाषा को भारतीय भाषा मानते हुए साहित्य अकादमी की और से प्रकाशन और पदम् श्री जैसे पुरस्कार तक जारी करता है ! तो ये तो तय हो जाता है की राजस्थानी भाषा भी एक अकादमिक भाषा है भारत देश की जिसे साहित्य अकादमी अकादमिक भाषा के रूप में स्वीकार कर चुकी है ! जिसका खुद का व्याकरण और एक लम्बा इतिहास है अन्य भारतीय भाषाओँ की तरह और ये भारत देश में ही राजस्थान में बोली जाती है ! पर जब राजस्थान में साहित्य अकादमी के उप सचिव ये चिंता दिखाते है और ये प्रश्न खड़े करते है की यहाँ प्राथमिक शिक्षा में राजस्थानी नहीं पढ़ाई जाती ? और एक दिवसीय सेमिनार में जिसे एक साधारण सांस्कृतिक संस्थान अपने स्तर पर आयोजित कर रही है , उस संस्थान से पूछे की यहाँ राजस्थानी भाषा के विद्यार्थी वर्ग क्यों नहीं उपस्थित है ? तो मेरी और से प्रतिप्रश्न साहित्य अकादमी नई दिल्ली और उसके उप सचिव श्री ऍन सुरेश बाबू जी के लिए ये बनता है की क्या साहित्य अकादमी की जिमेवारी नहीं है की वो राजस्थानी भाषा जैसी साहित्य अकादमी नई दिल्ली द्वारा प्रमाणित अकादमिक भाषा के लिए भारत के सर्वोच्च न्यायलय से अपील करते हुए , राजस्थानी भाषा की अकादमिक मान्यता को लागू हो ये मांग करे ! क्यों की भाषा की प्रमाणिकता अकादेमी की नियमावली से ही सुनिश्चित होती है और साहित्य अकादमी नई दिल्ली इस बात को पहले ही प्रमाणित कर चुकी है राजस्थानी भाषा को अकादेमी की भाषा सूचि में सम्मिलित करते हुए उसके लिए पुरस्कार और सम्मान सुनिश्चित करते हुए ! तो मेरी भी उम्मीद है साहित्य अकादमी नई दिल्ली से की अगला सेमिनार राजस्थानी भाषा पर साहित्य अकादमी की और से राजस्थान के किसी भी शहर में हो तो भारत के सर्वोच्च न्यायलय से मान्यता दिलवाने के बाद ही साहित्य अकादेमी आयोजित करे ! तब राजस्थानी भाषा के विद्यार्थी भी पूर्ण वांछित संख्या में उपस्थित होंगे उत्साह के साथ तो प्राथमिक शिक्षा में राजस्थानी भाषा को स्कूल के बच्चे भी पढ़ेंगे और उसका श्रेय जाएगा देश की सब से बड़ी भाषा की अकादेमी साहित्य अकादमी नई दिल्ली को ! मेरी उम्मीद है की मेरी ये बात उप सचिव साहित्य अकादेमी नई दिल्ली श्री ऍन सुरेश बाबू जी साहित्य अकादमी के अध्यक्ष जी तक भी पहुंचाएंगे राजस्थानी भाषा परामर्श मण्डल के साथ !
