Art critic Vinay Trivedi—as viewed by two of the country's editors!
For nearly two months now, Mr. Vinay Sharma—a senior artist, art critic, and columnist for the *Navjyoti* newspaper—has been chronicling my creative journey (specifically focusing on the painting 'Myself') in his personal Facebook column, "Rubaru." Across approximately 16 installments, he has successfully interpreted my work by elaborating on every detail, element, and symbol, effectively guiding viewers on how to observe and comprehend the art.
The significance of this work is evident from the fact that two prominent writers, editors, and journalists from across the country have studied and evaluated Mr. Vinay’s writing and his column, "Rubaru," offering their own perspectives and appreciation for his artistic commentary.
The individuals who have written about Mr. Vinay Trivedi are Mr. Lalit Sharma—a senior litterateur, translator, journalist, and editor based in Dibrugarh, Assam—and Mr. Kamal Agarwal, a writer and editor from Nohar, Hanumangarh district.

Art is the artist's true wealth.
An artist possesses a unique imagination and spares no effort in bringing it to life. Their creations captivate almost everyone. While painting may appear simple at first glance, the artist infuses it with the colors of their mind. Truly, art emerges from the artist's arduous labor, becoming captivating and enchanting. An artist’s vision is extraordinary; they take a single glance and transform it into something remarkable, creating a new form that compels the viewer to look again and again.
Art can be likened to magic—a magic that only an artist can reveal. Only a skilled painter is capable of this, and I would say that Yogendra Purohit is known as a dedicated and highly proficient artist. Vinay Trivedi has provided a precise critique of his work, beautifully articulating the essence of the paintings. The way he has expressed his views suggests a deep understanding of how to evaluate art; he has eloquently commented on the style, beauty, and fragrant allure of Purohit's creations. Purohit has carved a distinct identity for himself, presenting unique artistic compositions where each painting reveals its own special characteristics. Viewers cannot help but offer detailed praise; the artist's talent and craft are clearly evident. An artist’s work reflects their hard work and dedication, brought to life with sincerity. Yogendra Purohit possesses a unique creative capability.
From the paintings I have seen so far, it is evident that he has succeeded in setting a remarkable example in the field of art. A standout quality of his work lies in the entire process—from the initial sketch and the infusion of emotion to the careful selection of colors—resulting in a truly unique artistic presentation.
He spares no effort in presenting art that comes from both the heart and the mind. My assessment, based on the works I have seen, is that he has truly excelled. What I have witnessed so far reveals a fresh and distinctive artistic style. His entire body of work reveals an endless array of intricate details. Yogendra Purohit’s natural ease and simplicity set him apart from the conventional path, proving instrumental in his artistic progression. He has brought a fresh perspective to various art forms through his unique vision. I believe that in the future, his art is poised to reach significant new milestones.
What can one write about an artist's work?
I have simply penned down what I observed.

I follow Vinay-ji’s Facebook page precisely because he presents a broad, artistic, and conceptual perspective on an artist's body of work, linking it to Indian philosophy, spirituality, culture, and human consciousness. His language and writing style captivate me; reading his posts creates the impression that the artist is sitting right before me—discussing the world of art while moving their brush across the canvas.
I believe Vinay-ji is one of the significant figures in contemporary Hindi art writing who has not limited art criticism to mere formal analysis; instead, he has provided a comprehensive conceptual framework by connecting painting to Indian philosophy, spirituality, culture, and human consciousness. His writing style beautifully harmonizes the eye of an art critic, the sensibility of a litterateur, and the depth of a thinker.
His "Rubaru" (Face-to-Face) series, written on the artworks of Yogendra Kumar Purohit, is an excellent example of this. In this series, Vinay Trivedi does not merely describe the paintings; he offers a meaningful interpretation of the symbols, metaphors, and philosophical cues embedded within them. He presents symbols such as 'Time Texture', 'Dhvaja' (Flag), 'Cheelgaadi' (Aeroplane), and 'Meel ka Patthar' (Milestone) to readers by linking them with Indian cultural traditions, spiritual contemplation, and contemporary perspectives on life.
A key feature of his writing is his attempt to understand the artist's creative process in conjunction with their personal experiences and philosophy of life. In conclusion, I would like to state that Vinay Ji Trivedi’s writing on art represents a significant contribution to the tradition of Hindi art criticism. His critiques transcend the external form of an artwork to reveal its underlying philosophy, cultural significance, and human sensibilities. In this regard, he is a critic who builds a robust intellectual bridge between art and literature, equipping the reader not only to view an artwork but also to understand and internalize it.

मित्रों पिछले करीब दो महीनो से वरिष्ठ कलाकार/ कला समीक्षक / कलुमनिस्ट नवज्योति न्यूज़ पेपर श्री विनय शर्मा मेरी सृजन यात्रा ( चित्र माइसेल्फ ) को अपने निजी कॉलम " रूबरू " जो की फेसबुक पर चल रहा है उनकी अपनी प्रोफाइल से , उसमे लिख रहे है और करीब 16 भाग / खण्ड में मेरे चित्रों को व्याख्यायित करते हुए चित्र के एक एक अंश , तत्व और प्रतिक को विस्तार से लिखते हुए चित्र को कैसे देखा और समझा जाए एक दर्शक के द्वारा इस पर सफलता पूर्वक कार्य करते हुए वे सफल भी हुए है !

कलाकार का धन है कला
कलाकार की अपनी कल्पना होती है ।
कलाकार वास्तविक रूप देने में कसर नहीं रखता है । अंकित कला लगभग सबको खींच लेती है । चित्रकला वैसे देखने में सहज लगती है । इसमें
कलाकार दिमागी रंग भरते है ।सचमुच ही कला कलाकार की कठिन मेहनत से उभरती आकर्षित मनमोहक बन जाती है । चित्रकला कलाकार की दृष्टि कुछ अद्भुत होती है । वह एक बार देखता है उसे बार बार देखने लायक बनाने की कला में नया अद्भुत रूप देता है ।
कला को कहा जा सकता है कि यह एक जादू समान है । इस जादू को केवल कलाकार ही दिखला सकता है । चित्रकला के निपुण कलाकार ही सक्षम होता है, मैं कहूंगा कि योगेंद्र पुरोहित
एक समर्पित चित्रकला के निपुण दक्ष कलाकारके रूप में परिचित है । उनके कार्यो की समीक्षा विनय त्रिवेदी जी ने सटीक की है। उनके द्वारा किये गए वर्णन में चित्रकलाओं की असलियत को बखूबी बताया है, उन्होंने जिस प्रकार से अपनी बात रखी है उससे प्रतीत होता है कि चित्रकला को आंकने
का अंदाज को शब्दों में उल्लेख किया है उनके द्वारा अंकित चित्रों
की शैली में नई खूबसूरती कला की महकती सुगन्ध पर बखूबी टिप्पणी की है । इसमें एक अलग पहचान कायम किये है । चित्रकला में अजीबोगरीब चित्रकला प्रस्तुतियां मिलती है । सभी चित्रकारी की अपनी अपनी विशेषताओ की झलक मिलती है । दर्शक विस्तृत वर्णन करने से चूक नहीं सकते है । एक कलाकार की योग्यता और उनकी कला साफ मिलती है । एक कलाकार की अपनी मेहनत और लगन होती है वह उसे निष्ठावान रहकर उकेरता है । योगेंद्र पुरोहित के अंदर कार्यक्षमता कुछ अलग है ।
उनके अबतक जितने भी चित्रों को देखा उससे साफ जाहिर होता है कि चित्रकला की एक मिसाल पेश करने में वे खरे उतरे है । सबसे खूबसूरत चित्र
अंकित करना उसमे भाव को भरना उससे अधिक उसमें भरे रंग को चयनित कर अजीब कला में
प्रस्तुतियां देना एक विशेषता दिखाई दी है ।
ये दिल और दिमाग से कला को पेश करने में कसर नहीं रखें है। मैंने चित्रों को देख अनुमान किया है कि इसमें ये खरे उतरे है। मैंने जो अबतक देखा है उसमें एक नई कला दिखलाई पड़ी । समूचे कार्य में बारीकियों की अंतहीन सीमा का परिचय
मिला है । योगेंद्र पुरोहित की सहजता सरलता भी
कुछ लीक से हटकर है वही कला की सीढ़ियों में अग्रसर करने में सहायक सिद्ध हुई है । हरेक प्रकार की कलाओं को अपने दृष्टिकोण से नई दृष्टि दिए है ।मेरा मानना है कि सुदूर भविष्य में इनकी चित्रकला को काफी हद तक नई मुकाम नई मंजिल तक पहुंचना आसान होगा ।

मैं, विनय जी के ऍफ़बी पेज को फॉलो केवल इसीलिए करता हूँ कि - वे हर चित्रकार के कृतित्व का भारतीय दर्शन, अध्यात्म, संस्कृति और मानवीय चेतना से जोड़ते हुए एक व्यापक कलात्मक वैचारिक दृष्टिकोण प्रस्तुत करते है, भाषा शैली, लेखन शैली मुझे बांधकर रखती है, जब वाल को पढ़ता हूँ तो ऐसा महसूस होता है कि - वह चित्रकार या कलाकार मेरे सामने बैठकर कला संसार के बारे में विचार विमर्श करते हुए, केनवास पर अपनी तूलिका चला रहा हो।
मेरा ऐसा मानना है कि - विनय जी समकालीन हिंदी कला-लेखन के उन महत्वपूर्ण रचनाकारों में हैं, जिन्होंने चित्रकला की समीक्षा को केवल औपचारिक विश्लेषण तक सीमित नहीं रखा, बल्कि उसे भारतीय दर्शन, अध्यात्म, संस्कृति और मानवीय चेतना से जोड़ते हुए एक व्यापक वैचारिक परिप्रेक्ष्य प्रदान किया है। उनकी लेखन शैली में कला-समीक्षक की दृष्टि, साहित्यकार की संवेदना और चिंतक की गहनता का सुंदर समन्वय दिखाई देता है।
